    Thanks for the warm welcome.
Sorry about the intro bit, some how i missed it.
I have waited a long time to get a 4.2D patrol
It has 160ks on it and to be honest its driving me mad.
    Im in Cheltenham Melbourne.
If i cant get this gear shift sorted out soon the thing will kill me.
Already had 2 near misses due to it not selecting a gear.
This has all been caused by the old guy that owned it, from resting his hand on the gear shift while driving.
I need advice and thats the reason i joined the forum along with the fact that you have trips and things going on all the time.
I have found a good 4x4 mechanic, but he is a motor and extras guy not a gear box bloke.
I have already asked a few questions related to my bloody gear box.
Im concerned that where all the action takes place is bone dry, i have found a small pipe entering this area im guessing its to supply oil to the selector and its moving parts?
I have measured all the parts up, and i have to admit as an engineer im lost when it comes to how to remove the top half of the bush that sits above the gear stick ball joint?
    Here are my specs.
On the bottom of the stick is a ball joint attached to that is a small nylon bush its dia is 15.7mm dia.
It fits into the selector arm which has a hole size of 16.2mm.
The ball on the gear shift is 35.7mm dia.
The half bush that is located above that has a hole size of 30mm dia.
The gear stick where it is rubber mounted for vibration reasons is 34.5mm dia.
As you can see there is no way i can get the top half bush either over the ball joint on the stick or past the vibration joint.
And to top it all off its dead dry in there, thus the reason for asking about the small pipe entering it.
Its a great car, got driven once a year, also belonged to that chick morrorissei the singer.
Its been a tow car for a van once a year 3.000 ks at a time.
Can you please advise me who i can turn to for sound advice on my problem.
A big thanks in advance for any help you may have.
BTW you have a great forum. Makes me proud to be part of it.

Don't worry about missing the intro first, its just something we ask of new members. You done it once asked and that's all that matters

Make sure when asking question, not to do so in your intro thread, make sure you post them in the relevant thread and if your not to sure where the question should be just use general chat, admin or mods will move it if needed. Not all members check out the intro threads so, if you ask a question here it may get missed by someone that can help you.

    Cheers

    Todd
