Feel free to move if this is the wrong section, Thought I had an oil leak turns out the steering damper is shot.
Dont want a RTC damper as IMO I think they are rubbish. So what have you got and are you happy with it.
Ill be replacing an EFS one.

I have a OME one, non RTC and it's been great, had one on the grenade as well.
Heavy duty Tough dog. Replaced the 18 year old original one.
Standard item
Tough Dog and yeah, happy.
OME on my GU for the past 6 years or so. No hassles with it yet.
got a raw on my gq atm feels the same as the original
Was thinking along the lines of NN Im not running huge tyres ,
It runs straight with my hands off the wheels, and Ive never had "wobbly
wheel syndrome" decisions decisions. EFS one is leaking like a seive.
Ill see what brands TJM stock as Im over that way in the next few days
Seems EFS give 3 years /100,000k warranty.
mine is just out of that warranty period, damn
TJM want $100-$120 for their one cant see where
that price is warranted as most others are half that
price. Maybe paying for the name a bit as well.
TBH I would have hoped it would last a lot longer
than what it did. I;ll see whats available on Ebay, lol

Ok Ive let this slip for a few months . I cant seem to get the old one off
Stropp suggested to use the jack but the angle is all wrong. Im thinking
I need a tie rod fork to break the seal,, so to speak, Ive tried a big hammer
to no avail

Use a bigger hammer
The factory suckers are in tighter than a nun's nasty. We used a lot of heat, bearing pullers and big hammers (use one a dolly to put mass behind bar, use other smaller hammer to smack the sucker) to eventually get it.
Will re try with my tongue hanging out the left and see if that works. lol
If the standard steering dampers gone to nissan heaven maybe time to replace the std steer link and ball joints also.
When I replaced my original one of some 18 years I don't recall having that much of an issue trying to get it off and I'm no Powerhouse.
Sent from my XT1033
Pretty sure mine is the original one. It's sloppy as and has oil seeping around it. She'll be fine!
I'd say save your money up for the head problems.
>>>tappin from tassie
As per a previous post its an EFS number.
Ill give it another go over the weekend.
as for swinging a hammer ,you gotta do what you gotta do lol
@roofy it used to go everywhere just not the last two years or so
I replaced my original 21 year old dampener with a RTC Tough Dog last year. It was on pretty tight but enough elbow grease and it came free.
well out of warranty, cheap enough to replace I have it but
apparently need a bigger hammer according to some "experts" lol
Cold as a frog here atm
