Does anybody have a few Warn high mount bits and pieces sitting around in their shed?
I need in particular, the upper housing and the drum end plate.
There are some other random pieces I might need but they are on a list at home.

Haha yes you are a great guy Jonathan!
Will have a look for you in my travels
G'day Winnie,
I have an 8274 High mount for sale @ $500.00. I'd like to be as generous as the other boys on here but I'm trying to raise funds for upgrades on my patrol.
The motor works fine. solenoids need replacement (Reverse is erratic) Other than that its a good unit for a rebuild. All parts are there including the drum end plate and the upper housing as well. The hand controller is in good nick but the clutch release (I think thats what you call it) is stuck which apparently i a common issue on these units.
Your other option is to have a look at this FB page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/warn...rtsorcomplete/
Cheers,
Rob
Im in western Sydney Liftlid
High jacked Winnie......
Hey Rob,
Appreciate that and it's a very generous price. I did manage to source just the parts I am after and as a bonus the and plate is modified with a bearing.
Even more I got them for a pretty good price. So I am happy.
I've got a complete high mount that needs a rebuild and motor for about $300
No worries Winnie. Glad you got it sorted.
Post your spare up on the FB page I mentioned earlier and it will go.
Winnie,
I have a potential buyer for your spare winch and they are in VIC as well.
I have PMed you for more details
Cheers,
Rob
Nah mate I didn't word that so well. This is my current project and is not for sale.
What size motor did you go with??
It has the 2hp motor on it now but will be going with the 6hp Warn.
I'll do a little build write up as I go along but it will be pretty standard, just a few nice little mods is all. It will be a pretty slow build too.
Are you pressurizing it as well?
Wow from 2hp to 6hp it will pull like a train
No I will just put a breather on it.
Yeah the 6hp is just awesome... I have watched a bloke pull his and another car up a hill with a low mount winch...... so slow. Then watches Rossco's 6hp high mount do it in a fraction of the time and with such little effort.
I think we might be leaving the Pajero at home for these trips from now on! hahaha
Yeah that's the best thing about rebuilding is you actually get to fully understand how everything inside works. I have watched a few videos on youtube and read heaps of stuff and they seem pretty simple really.
What did you use to polish the upper housing? It's a nice touch.
Winnie,
I have got exploded diagrams of the 8274 and a few other docs if you want them? (in PDF format)
Rob
All good mate, I've got those off the Warn website.
Cool. Should post em up here.
Yeah I will do that when I get home.
Ah yes i think that is a good idea! ! !
I used those you tube videos when i rebuilt mine they were a great great help. Think i used the dremel and some emery paper to finish the aluminum. It's how the new high mounts are finished, looks good i reckon.
Think i will pull mine out shortly and give it a few tweaks and some lovn'. . .
What are you planning on doing with yours now?
The end cap I scored has been modified to take a bearing instead of the nylon bush, should make freespool a little easier.
I'll have all the bits on Monday ready to pull apart and take to the sandblasters. I reckon I'll have a fun time pulling apart the brake system on this bottom end I have.
Not too much. . . Somehow popped out the seal on the brake assembly will have to look at that. Might pull it apart and tap a filler & drain plug, new freespool lever and new rope. . . Also need to finish off the wiring and put some buttons on the bar and an isolator. . . Actually that is a few things.!!
Yep The brake asembly was a royal PITA to get off on mine took a fair bit of squirting & whackn. Good luck!!
