Double chock chip cake lol and ice/eat it while its hot!
Nothing beats a good old roast pork done in the camp oven with roast veges..
Yeah nice easy camp meal, cake mix, eggs, milk. How easy's that
You'll never hear anyone complain about roast pork
For sure. Got a few new recipies we want to try, the beer can chicken for one.
But also can't beat dumplings for desserts..
Beer can chicken?
Love a good curry in the camp oven on a cold night in the bush, makes a mess of the camp oven though
Roast lamb and veggies with thousand island salad dressing for the sauce!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmm!!
P.s don't knock it till you tried it.
Sent from my iPhone using Motorculture mobile app
Thousand island dressing, that sounds strange but I'm certainly intrigued
Garlic balls :-)
Any roast meat with all fixings
Camp oven weighs 32 kg.
the roast with fire was last fishing trip.
It got a 9. 99 out of 10 from Bob
Something about balls and garlic.
Not sure if party trick or not
Two simple words with sooo much meaning,
could be something in there for all of us .
What a Sage so inspiring, like "Blessed are the garlic balls" lol
Have to admit ..... anything cooked up by threedogs in his variety of camp ovens ...... I"ve had some good tucker out of camp ovens ..... but when someone else does the cooking, & does it as well as TD it's pretty hard to beat.
Heres the Paella again just to show how good you can eat with a campfire.
That pan is 500mm wide
That is a serious camp oven TD. Nothing beats good heavy cast iron for cooking on the camp fire I reckon.
As for the Thousand Island dressing on a roast, interesting. Sounds like it might have originated after consumption of alcohol, and lack of options...
@ BK its not cast iron the lid and base are an off cut from laser cutters for bead lock rims
and the pot itself is 16" mains water pipe 3/8th thick. Cooks well as you cant get it hot enough to burn,
Last roast was near on perfect with no coals on top {ncot}, just re heated lid when inspecting procedings.
Its home made and cooks a treat if not a tad heavy, just rotate 180 every 1/2 hour
Top notch TD. I love my camp oven roasts. Got to be the best way of doing them.
my favorite meal was the pizza cooked by wa489 (neil) it was very tasty and i didnt have to cook :) second favorite is anything cooked someone else lol
Have to admit WA489's pizza was pretty darn good, gotta do that myself. Mine is usually damper and roasts
Must try pizza'a do you use flat bread or make your own bases ??
@ TPC anytime my friend anytime
Any of the roasts or Darren's missus bread at the loveday meetup
I think you cannot beat the old roast with garlic Cloves shoved inside, rosemary and veges slowly cooking away whilst you sit back and have a beer with mates.
And real men do not do coals on top. Coals on top is so 80's... Lol
Even better then that is to leave the oven out for a day for another meal the following night...yum bloody yum!!!
Really any roasted meat and veges, I make a raisin / fruit bread for smoko sometimes. Getting better at that. Great with heaps of real butter.
To amuse my nephews kids recently we baked a packet cake that was bloody fantastic, I do have a sweet tooth and had not seen a bakery for 3 weeks LOL
Might have influenced my opinion.
How big is the camp oven so it weighs 32 kg... That's like 3 put together lmao. Not one I'd be touring around with that's for sure
