Gee Todd if you say so, I mean, you wouldn't lead me astray... right??
Never........ever, and don't believe what anyone else says about those readings *LMAO*
I swear that pic of you reminds me of someone I met before in Sydney, you don't happen to have a twin brother that use to live in Sydney about 10 years ago????
Not that I know of anyway!
Hey mate
did the mechanic talk to you in relation to the dyno figures?
how are your egts?
Sitting at 110km/h it's at about 10psi and EGTs are 400-450. Driving under load up a long hill I will have to back off when EGTs get to 550.
I still think its running too lean you should be making more power then that, unless the injector timing is out ??? The power curve doesn't look right to me but i might be used to how a petrol power curve is supposed to be ( nice smooth arc). Maybe you should go to another tuner and ask to do a power run and give you his opinion it shouldn't cost much, but you will have to travel to this side of town. Maybe hit up Dysons like Darren said and just drill them over the phone, they know their stuff and could probably help a bit more, you could try JPC aswell.
What style cooler are you going to run?? Water to air or air to air??
I got told today "I think there's something wrong with your car.... it's whistling!"
;)
No no no it was the awesome turbo whistle through the exhaust!! hahahaha
Haha you should see peoples reactions when it doses like a vl turbo lol
Nah no dose here.
Give me 5 mins lol better not i have a mate with a mitsubishi canter that i made dose then put it back to normal and now every time i see him he breaks 'em so i will make it dose again
what is this "dose" that you speak of????
You know when a VL commodore spools up and goes ZUTUTUUTTUUUUUUUU
Hey chris that dyno looks pretty average mate! For your turbo setup I would have thought you'd push at least 90kw.
I not that ambient temp was 39deg!! Maybe not ideal for getting the best results given that you have no inter cooler and it was bloody hot!!
Bring it down to Daltons mate. I have heard mixed things about JPC to be honest including a poorly calibrated dyno spitting out incorrect readings above accurate! And $400 for a tune!!!!WTF!!
Give Chris Dalton a call and have a chat with him mate,
Tune cost me an hour's labour which was $120. That was with my muddies on, with my road tyres on it makes a serious difference, reckon it would be over 100kW
For now I will leave it how it is if I have no more dramas. Then an intercooler and tune when I can afford one!
I reckon your temps are still too high mate. Cruising at 100 you should be looking at around 300. The other guys are also saying its not quite right.
Chris Dalton will be about the same dollars as you have paid but you will get a heap of runs. He ran my GUIV more than 40 times getting it perfect!!!
Are your muddies 33s or 35s? If that is with 33s then a little low IMO but running 35s on the dyno then it's probably not that bad (important info Chris ;) )
Keep a very close eye on your temps mate
Hmmmmm! Also thinking about it more! You have a GU 11mm pump!!! What is your Idle like? I reckon your tune is way under mate. Has the tuner done much with a TD42 before? Much with a GU pump?
I had both my cars tuned by a guy who had done lots of TD42 but it turned out he was doing ALLOT OF GUESSING and my power was down, idle was up and temps were a mess in general use!
Chris Dalton fixed both cars after I drove around like that for a year!! Damn I should have gone to him to start with!
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P9iGnkB8vus heres a dose.
A dose = pressurized air from the turbo hitting the throttle flap, changing direction thru the cooler and back out the intake of the turbo while its still trying to boost. So the turbo is spinning at 50,000rpm - 100,000rpm stopping and going instantly, very healthy for it !!!
BTW no blow off valves for doseing just some 3" pipe in the front of the turbo about 7" long. I fitted the first dose pipe to a vl in woollongong lmao true fact!!
Look for this

Your an animal George!!! That's nuts!!
Was he just bouncing off the limiter? Which bit is the Dose? While doing the burnout? Or the shudder as he drove out?
Check this one
Dose video under the bonnet
Hey Daz... muddies are 33s but they really take a lot of power out of it, think it might have more to do with the weight of the steel wheels than the 1" difference with my road tyres. Idle is fine. Dunno what this tuner has done before, he's the only local guy around, if I wanna go somewhere with a good history I have to go into Melbourne which means taking time off work which is a PITA. I will do that when I get a cooler though. And I always keep a very close eye on my temps, look at gauges just about as much as I look at the road hahaha
Here you go Lucas

Every time he backed off was part of the dose it went zut zut zut then the real dose was at the end when it went ssssssssss 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 lol

My BT1 i would show you guys a video of my rx but i gotta put it on youtube or you can see it on my FB profile lol
Chris go to this site (edit http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator ) and go to the tyre calculator and put your tyre sizes in and look at the difference
That's the site I use. Road tyres are very close to 32"
If you're happy and you know it tap a post!
How much bigger is the rolling distance from the rd tyres to the muddies
Nice wagon Winnie
how much difference in weight?
Hey Winnie, this guy gets a great wrap on MudRhino for tuning over your side of town mate. Joel is his name give him a bell. He probably knows the previous owner and or knows your car mate.
Ask him what he would expect to get out of your set up and how much $$$

I think your probably putting way too much blame on your steel wheels mate, maybe a couple of KW but not the 20kw your missing!
Seriously that Turbo and that Pump should be seeing plenty more! Not meaning to rain on your day bud, just looking out for you mate ;)
Carrum Downs is still over an hour away. Look I'm happy with the power for now, it's enough for my needs. Haven't fueled up since so depending on economy I'll leave the tune until I get a cooler. Then I'll ramp the boost back up and chase a good tune! Haha
