Hughes can't bat for sh!t.
He is part of the problem not the solution. Khawaja is not up to it either.
Too many players have a crap technique and no patience to bat for a long time and accumulate rather than try and smash every other ball to the boundary.
Really pi$$ed off with that effort last night. Rodgers and Warner laid a good foundation and then in the face of some very good bowling the rest of the order rolled over. Big girls blouses they are.
Batting looses test matches and for the third time this series England has shown us that it is still true.
Tip tip tip......tap tap tap....
Bring on the Ashes 2018! by then we might have another batch of good players. Re Invent the Wheel please Cricket Australia.
Yes i changed the title! No we did not show England ANYTHING!
Aussie Aussie Aussie......... What! Nuffn :(
Openers got you off to a great start, that collapse was like "England in the 90`s"
All they had to do was bat solidly and occupy the crease, you had plenty of time, fair enough,Broad balled well and there were some players who were dismissed by good balls, others gave their wicket away. You cannot score 8 an over every over in a test match.Somebody needed to dig in and stay there, nobody seemed capable of doing that. Bloody shambles to be honest.
hey ade thats the second time your post has had its title changed.GUTTED.

Well if a test average of 32 for a top order bat is demanding selection, I stand corrected.
I would also suggest his first class average of 44 is well, pretty average and he played most of the last couple of years on the batting friendly conditions in Adelaide.
His technique is ok at best and he is laughable against quality spin bowling.
He is just like all the other bat wafting clowns at the top of the order who have no patience to grind out a long innings.
In the 30 odd years I have been playing cricket I have seen many like him before.....they often get called flat track bullies.
Tip tip tip......tap tap tap....
I think you hit the nail drew... No one plays tests anymore. It's a lost version. There all up for the big payin short games. More entertainment, and more coin / game...
not really westy we are still sitting in our chairs thinking of the domination days, where we are at is we just have a run of the mill team just finding their feet give them a chance, everyone seems to forget lets use haydens early years 28 average should we have shown him the door and told him he is shit, i think not. this team has the potential to make us happy again. kev
I don`t think the team needs a major reshuffle, they need to learn that test cricket is not 20/20. Keep the scoreboard going by all means, but be sensible about it and occupy the crease, don`t give your wicket away, make the opposition take it from you instead.
And before you all start crucifying your guys, you are playing, possibly, the best test team in the world.
You dominated for years with superb, one off players, they have gone and you are in a period of regrouping, give them a chance.
We did exactly that!
Is was a number of years Hayden was in the wilderness and the test team won without him. He only got selected again by an absolute mountain of first class runs and was a different player when he came back.
Though Hughes spent some time away from the team it has not been long enough and I will concede he is better in his second incarnation in the baggy green he is still not yet good enough to command a spot. Until he sorts out his batting against spin he is a liability at the top if the order.
I was hopeful after the first test he had turned a corner but I'm afraid I don't think he has.......
As far as the rest of them go, I do think there is a core group who look likely. The automatic selections would be: 1.Warner, 4.Clarke, 5.Watson, 6.Smith, 8.Siddle, 9.Harris, 10.Pattinson (maybe Starc), 11.Lyon.
I would be very pleased to be proved wrong about Hughes but he is one of a number of players who could fill spots 2 and 3......and the keepers position is not long term and really comes down to Tim Payne and Matthew Wade.
We have showed snippets of good form this series but not for long enough.
I also think Westy is right, short term cricket is a double edged sword, on one side it has sped up test cricket and produced more results and made it more exciting. On the other it has bred a generation of over paid, over appreciated cricketers who have very little clue of how to construct a long test innings.
Tip tip tip......tap tap tap....
we also have pat cummins coming back now he will lead the brigade if he can stay fit all the bowlers will lift. what pattinson can can do cummins can do it both ways and yes your correct drew hughes will find his way and open or be next in, we are not that far off being a credible team its now upto the selectors to let the players feel confident that 1 bad score doesn't mean your dropped and as far as uzi is concerned hasn't showed he can make the step. kev

Hate twenty/20 cricket with a passion just another grab for cash. one day cricket is slowly losing me as well with all stupid rule changes,
Test cricket we'll just need to bide our time when comes such a time we have 12 great players again, giving young kids too much money
IMO, let them earn their spot like the greats of yesteryear, and learn to wear the "baggy green" with pride.
Good job it rained at the Old Trafford test, otherwise you would be facing a "wash"...........
nah ade Teflon coated bats or not you were in the shit there me old mukka.
Can`t argue that fella, you should have won the last test as well, the batting collapse in the second innings was ludicrous.
What the hell are your guys doing Fracster, playing for a draw on day 3.
They have already won the series so have nothing to loose so why don't they play the game and give everyone some entertainment.
They're just doing it to stir you Aussies up mate l
Chin up old bean, it's only cricket, what what!!!!!! :D
No footy club any more, no cricket team any more, how we going in Netball,so sad soooo very sad
I take that back, real edge of the seat stuff now.
What a disgraceful way to end the match and series. No blame on anyone but the ICC and some stupid rules. They should give the whole crowd their money back. Disgraceful.
Clarke sportingly declared, we went for it and the crowd got cheated. Bloody shambolic.
tiddly winks anyone?
This is my point "they" change the rules to better the game, but the drongoes cant see it doesn't do the game any good.
Stuff 20/twenty , lets see how we go in the one dayers GGGGgggrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhhHHHHH
Bumped whats with the reports of the English players urinating on the pitch,
never heard of that before it is after all theirs to do what they like with it.
Now the Ump has pushed Clarke WT
Have not seen nor read anything about that over here guys.
Edit..the Daily Mail reported it, that bastion of truth and correctness, not.
It is an accusation started by the worst "newspaper" in the country/world.
Come on now Fracster, you know if it was in the Daily Mail, then it must be true,!!!!!!!!! ;)
Is The Sport still running? Now there was a classy paper if there ever was one Hahahaha
I really dunno fella. Remember when they reported that double decker bus found on the moon with the dodgy photoshopped pic?
Pure genius, mind you, I give some of their reports more credence than anything the Mail reports.
Ignore the pics, read some of the "headlines".......this one is a gem "Worlds ugliest woman dies after looking in mirror"
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=th...w=1702&bih=960
You mean to tell me it wasn't true!!!!!?????? Hahahaha.......... At least the sports articles were true (I think)
Here you go mate:
the online version
Do not click if easily oiffended guys.
You are so sceptical Fracster, everything that is printed in papers has to be true.
