Bruce got muzzled today... in went a high flow muffler from the states to make those long trip easier on the brain.
Also mudski supplied some goodies including the larger vacuum canister and a new cap for my power steering.. happy days.
So many will be disappointed that5 bruce no longer makes fully sick noises and does not sound as tough but these long trips were killing me.
Thank you very much to mudski and George for all your help...

So turbo and pump upgrade next?
It would make defogging easier to deal with though.
Heading out to orienteering this morning so get to test drive the car properly and see how quiet it really is.
It has lost a bit of punch and if I had the cash I would almost want to see what difference it has made on the dyno?
Random question, tried searching, which clutch slave cylinder/pushrod did you use? I have in my head that they are different lenths.
Thanks!
Well after this latest trip to Licola I have had a few things happen to Bruce including ..... Broken engine mount (left side but have not checked right yet)leaking clutch master, Panhard bush (bloody hard to get home with violent shakes) and now there is a lot of vibration and the car is not smooth to drive.. the clutch I think got some shit in it from the first deep crossing.
Also the radius arm bushes on the left side were starting to knock and after this trip are moving a lot.
Funny as this trip was not tough but seems to have taken its toll.
stupid question but i ahve done this and the vibration was quite specific. Have you unlocked your hubs? even in 2wd with the hubs locked your front end will be dragging around. Quite a bit of vibration is created, like a hummmm or buzz. drove me nuts until i figured it out.
Did you fit New engine mounts when you installed the engine? they are less than 5000kms old?
Fitted a new radiator today and the quality is much better..
Also fitted a provent 200 catch can.
Have a few other things that need doing soon including radius arm bushes when mudski gas them back in stock and i need to replace the transfer fuel pump.. the piece of crap one i got from Patrolapart is stuffed.
Also waiting on my zd30 air filter housing (cheers colin) as my stock td42 pre filter is crap and was letting water in on the licola trip.
Want to go on a holiday with the kids in September so need to have this stuff sorted.
There's always something needing or wanting to be done and we don't even need to look too hard. Best to get onto things as soon as (funds available) possible.
Just got home from the hospital mate and your bushes are here. :)
Thanks lucas...
Mark i think I will use your press this time.

Today i took my rear calipers off and freed up the sliders and fitted up new bendix heavy duty pads.. also adjusted the bias bracket.
Brakes feel good but i could only gravity bleed them.. was going to get my daughter to help but im sharing my sons cold and couldn't be stuffed by the time i picked her up from school.
See how we go with this.
Yippee!!!!!
I have air conditioning in bruce!!!
Wish i had it for the licola trip.
Thanks mudski the bloke was really good and knows his stuff.
great stuff mate! good to hear things are going well for you!
Bobs a great bloke. Him and his english accent... Fook this and fook that! He loves the to drop the C bomb too a lot. Known him for a long time and wouldn't take my cars anywhere else. One thing he told me when regassing mine last year after a busted hi pressure hose. I had high gas temps and the pressures were really high, even though the right amount of gas in there. One thing that most people look past on their cooling system is the gaps around the radiator and support panel. He said is imperative to seal them up. So all the air coming in from the front has no where to go except through the condensor and radiator. Your a/c will work better and your water temps will be better too.
I had a look at mine and I was amazed to see the gaps right around and above my radiator. Something that I never thought to look at or even consider it being an issue.
Well I celebrated a little too soon.. the compressor it seems has a leak that did not show up until the car was driven for a bit.
I have to go back in the morning to get the gas sucked out... problem is where my compressor is leaking cannot be repaired.
I gave a good compressor too Matty and I think he butchered it for bits... faarrkk !!!
Go see Mark at JPC and ask him for my old compressor off the ZD. While the pulley is different, I had a look at the mounting and from what I could see, the body of the compressor was the same from the ZD to TD. Its not hard to take the idler wheel off and they might even swap over. Whether it works or not. Who knows.
Oh bummer!
Tell us about it... he said very rarely they will seal themselves up if they are run for a fair bit... he told me to run the system for 2 weeks after it had been gassed but now i have to go back in the morning and have the system degassed.
Well its official I have no aircon.... oh fun.
Chappy has an aircon compressor but is overseas, I think he gets back tonight.
I managed to replace my headlights this arvo and also replace radiator hose clamps.
Yesterday I got the oil changed and Billy went over my car again and both rear lower control arms bushes need replacing..
From what I have seen with all these mobs that supply heavy duty parts dont fit decent rubber bushes as my tough dog panhards flogged out and so with my heavy duty control arms.. replacing as I go with Nissan bushes.
Superior engeneering use genuine Nissan rubber bushes in all their rods and arms
Thanks to chappy i have fitted another aircon compressor..
Hope to get it filled on friday and be the end of this...lol.
Also fitted the idle up but cannot figure where the vacuum hose goes to out the back of the unit??
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/08/306.jpg
The vac hose goes around to the vacuum tanks via a solenoid valve. There will be a small port, probably with a rubber cap on it on the steel tube setup at the tanks. Thats how it is on mine anyway. But have been told to not bother with it. Dunno.
Nice one jono. Mine doesn't have idle up and works fine, being a torquey td doesn't really bother it. Seeing as yours is close may as well get it going I spose. . .
Confusing as from what have seen it goes to the injector pump???
Yeah I'm at a loss.... Mat or Bene will jump in soon and tell ya.
I dont seem to have the same i/pump setup as from what have seen the hose went to a diaphragm but i dont seem to have one.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/08/307.jpg
It goes well and does the job STOP stressing
Im not stressing.......?
Your just a worry wart LOL
You are missing the bracket and diaphragm arrangement. I wouldnt worry about it to much. Just set the idle a touch higher to compensate.
Well second time round but I have aircon.
The compressor GQJETT gave me is working a treat and am very grateful for his generosity.
Wired up the fan so it come on when the compressor kicks in and fitted a diode between the compressor and relay... was thinking of putting a manual switch in also for the fan as it would be easy now.
The only thing I will still do is finish off the idle up as most of it is there just missing that diaphragm for the Injector pump.
Also changed brake master on Sunday and brakes are a lot better.
Before I head on my trip too Robe I want to also change my lower control arm rubbers... would also like to do the snorkel but think time is escaping me.
Which reminds me i need to do my air con too.
