No idea, never used 1 on a bow before, only used long bow / recurves before. This is all new to me with all the extra gear

Makes 2 of us..
It'll be fine, you will get accustomed to lining it up and averaging the 8mm around your sight with out focusing on it if you know what I mean
Gunna grab a 3/8 to try as it is a pain
Have been informed of gifts have arrived..
Well I'm ready for setup..
Still waiting on a release but can fire a few with hand..
Just checked my emails and my bow is in the post. Sorry for the small pics but this is the bow I bought. 60lbs Warrior X from Apex Hunting.

Anyone know where to purchase the arrow locking plate and rest bucket thingy for the quivers at all? I have a template at home for a leather version of the quiver but still need to use those parts and can't seem to find them on their own.

Ow a 3 part string.. Heard not good things about them..
What was the issue with them?
Gecko has a similar model but a lot more exxy than this 1 and is a 75lbs downtuned to 60lbs for the range

The alloy joints that hold the strings together can fail.. And a local club can confirm this as it happened at our club on a cheaper bow..
But this was a second hand bow and history unknown so just keep an eye on em..

This is my faithful OLD GLORY by Bowtech pulls 73lb, i use a mixture of Easton power flight 360 and 400 spine carbon arrows tipped with either 100gr ribtecks or 100 gr black stumps that's for goats rabbits and deer and for pigs I use port oxford cedar shafts tipped with tusker Aztecs only because I found hunting pigs with a heavy arrow and heavy heads I have got better penetration... But that's just my opinion.
Bow came in today, 1st time owning a compound bow and is impressive for a mid range .
Will get Gecko to give us a hand setting it up and will post pics later
I finally got to put 30 odd arrows down range. Loved it..
Hit some serious changes to make though.. First up I need to reduce my draw length now with the release aid.
Next it adjust the peep as it's to low.
Then shoot in again.
Was great fun though..
Draw back with your eyes closed with your natural grip. Open them and that's where your peep needs to be
Will do once I sort my draw length
You should be able to slide the serving then the peep on the string and do as growler said over and over till its in the right spot then re tighten serving close to the peep.
So I've had a productive arvo..
I spent hours last night trying to find a vid or a manual but to no avail.
I stumbled across the Hoyt bows manual. After a bit of a read and look over my bow I was thinking.. What the hell.. Let's give it a go..
Well 4 screws and I've not only shortened my draw but I have also adjusted my let off or hold weight..
So since I had less hold weight if cracked the bow back up to max (70-75 pound)
And am a happy chappy..
I also took your advice growler and adjusted the peep so I drew with eyes closed and opened to spot on..
This in turn has made my 1/4 peep spot on also for the size issue and I now see only 1/2 the orange ring of the sight..
So all in all a happy day..
Now to re sight and enjoy..
So seems I'm the only one enjoying our sport lol..
Yesterday I got the missus to grab a pack of the click together floor mats, $12 from masters.
Cut down into 1/4's so there 300x300

I then stacked em, glued em and weighed em down for a few hours

The bug to to much so a quick make shift back drop and my cube infront I sighted the new adjustments in..
Attachment 46089
After a few rounds this was from 10m
Low one was a robbin hood moment... ;-)
Attachment 46090
And then stepped back to 15 and sighted between the 2 top pins
Attachment 46091
I also noticed my peep sliding so I reset it and re tied it.. I think the braid is a bit small but we'll see how this new knot goes..

So after 2 sessions on the bow I'm pretty happy..
Yea you may want to make the serving a little longer and wax the string more and it might hold better also
I think the wax is the issue..
But yea I've done nearly 3 times longer than what I had
Nice idea for a target might have to steal that idea for myself
Go easy on the serving the more shit on your string the slower ya bow will be every little bit makes a difference ay
Well I managed another target and I like this one better...

So much easier to pull arrows from cardboard... And it's 600x600x250 which I feel a bit easier aiming at from 30m
But ofcourse I had to try it..
I moved my rest 1mm to the right and from 10 the arrows moved 150mm to the left..
But from 10 I happy with the spacing.. There is 6 arrows here..
Attachment 46137
great idea.....i use body boards that ya can get when the council does there kerb side rubbish pick up around town, i do the same 3 body boards cut to shape then glued and then wrapped up great for home or out bush
Yea I've made a second one now. Found out my bows 65#..
And cams were way out...
So I think this is the reason I'm having issues with the arrow hitting the rest..
Paper tune to cime
I use polystyrene we use sheets for cladding houses and rendering over 5 sheets glued togeather and it weighs nothing also a 2400x1200x75 sheet is like 30$
Spied this at the Docs , not my idea of hunting.
Seems they have Lion farms and only bred to be shot.
I did here a story a while back that cancer was rampant in
one area and to recoup some research monies they culled all infected animals.
This grinds my gears...
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/e...e55c0ed44b21c2
My arrows are just tipping out the other side of a 250 thick cardboard stack..
That's at 65#
would it go right through an animal if you got a good shot in or do you use those wire grip ends
sorry don't know what they are called
Shoit yea...
But feild points do f all.. And I assume it's what these twits shooting birds are using..
You use a broad head to open more up making it a quick kill
Any broadhead would have decapitated that bird, my bow will put an arrow 2" in a street sign with a field tip and There are many vids on youtube of people hunting pigs with glowing nocks and you can see the arrow pass through the chest of the pig and stick in the ground, they pack a punch !
Here's a good video showing penetration through a beef bone. Test is using a Outback broadhead which are one of the toughest in the country(others would just bend)...made in Ballarat .
As you can see speed isn't everything...LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4UVmi2n6oY
It's an ad video but shows what these things are capable of
Just saw a bit on TV of this good looking Texas cheerleader who is killing exotic, species for conservation,
Rhino, leopard, and lion, She has a face ache page. Killing and conservation are two words that you normally don't see together.
Oh and she's killing all with very high powered rifles and a compound bow. hope some one can find it
So I need some help.
We have a bloke who wants to turn this pest hunting on private property, which we haven't even got a property for yet, into a business...
I say good luck coz the local rifle clubs do it for nothing as a club day...
Anyway the rest of us want to get some properties to hunt for fun..
Apart from getting out and shaking hands how can we go about it with us making it feel like we're stepping on his business plans...
Does that make sense??
