Damn, a minimum order of 500???? That won't be a cheap exercise.
Just got the go ahead from AB for the stamp to be made up. Any thoughts on what would be more preferable, the forum logo or standard Nissan logo?
Hi guys, is there a link to this knife purchased in Aust? I've looked through the thread but there is just so much info I here lol. Can only find on ebay usa stores and they apparently don't ship to Australia.. I'm chasing a decent chopper to complement the little Gerber I've got..
Was thinking about this also

As I've had a heap of Kershaw fishing knives and they have always seemed to my value for money.
Cheers!

Check out Extreme SAS (Sport and Survival) on Facebook. I can't find it on their website but Dean sells a lot of gear via his FB page, does a lot of specials and bulk packages on there.
Dean is based in QLD which makes purchases a lot easier. Just make sure you know what you are not permitted to own in each state before making a purchase.
That was 1 thing I noticed at last years SSAA Shot Show here in Perth that a lot of the sellers were selling and supplying products not allowed under WA's weapons act.
:) My latest purchase.... Couldn't resist it!

Here's the Elite Tactical machete.... It's a frikkin horse of a blade.

@ GKO looking forward to your assessment of the Schrade chopper.
Might have to add it to my other Schrade fixed blades, lol
Buy dying to get the Colt Alamo bowie first
Having seen the Elite Tactical machete that OD got, I cant wait to compare the two.... I love the weight, feel and balance of it. It will be interesting to see just how the Schrade stacks up against it....
@ 3D, I really like that Alamo Bowie!
still waiting on some pre xmas orders to arrive, some gear has been re-sent
Usually dont order well before xmas
Looking for a Natchez bowie to compliment my other Old West bowie knives
BUT they have a Kydex sheath, not a look Jim Bowie would have IMO
If I did buy one I think I'd spend the extra and get OD to make up a leather one.
Kydex is for Cold steel tanto and other sas style knives not Bowie
This has to be my favourite knife of all.... I just brought another one.

I think he is going to start mounting some for show. lol
Left and right hand sheaths like a cowboy rlmfao
Here's some more Buckles so if interested in any just give OD a PM
I was thinking of a shoulder harness with rear downwards draw for the twins.... what ya reckon? :D
stay out of the med box GKO, lol
now to make your cabinet up, cant see how you're very time poor I trust
I just missed out on a coffee dispay table, would of housed my skinners and folders
oh well next time
Ah 3D! I can just imagine a nice slab of wood, all inlayed to house a few choice knives, with tempered glass inset.... Now I have to go looking for the slab of wood!
those cypress pine planks have good features in the timber.
I always look for very knotty Pine planks up tp 600mm wide at Bunnings.
Then use a antique walnut stain to highlight it.
Some red gum with clear poly would work too. lol
My 2nd elven blade came in today, now it's elves akimbo lol. Just need to draw up designs for a belt to hold them both.
Also had these little 1" bladed knives which can be carried via a neck lanyard or with the molle compatible clip sheath.
Funky little knives and great size a pocket sized personal survival kit.

you two deserve each other lol double elvin tanto's lmao
Well, it arrived. Typical Schrade quality! Beautiful piece with nice feel/ balance to it. My only complaint is that the blade, imo, is too thin to be a decent chopper.... Having said that, if you were swinging it all day, it would be relatively easier that a thicker blade.

Yet you get a leather sheath with that chopper and all They have for their Bowie is a crappy nylon sheath
My Black Buck Vanguard arrived today, no point in a pic as Its just replacing one of the many I cant find. GGGRRRrrrr
I'm surprised they didn't use that Delrin they use on many other knives,
funny you say its not thick enough, I thought the Bowie was a tad slim being a 10" blade.
Most other Bowies I have are up to 6mm, you could belt the back of the knife with a hammer
and not dent it
All of my makers marks are made out of delrin. Gecko's schrade is very nice and a good sheath as well, just as surprised when I held it how comfortable it was but light considering its size.
The vanguards are a nice knife for something simple and basic in design, just a straight all round knife but let down with the crappy nylon sheathes.
TD, can you send me your address again and will send your sheathes over, just need the energy etc to do your bowie sheath and will send that over once finished.
Couldn't find the post about the California I XL bowie from the 1880s they wanted $8000 for.
Found an old AKA brochure seems you can buy them new for $600-$800 go figure
Where did you find that page from?
Sounds like the seller is doing something dodgy
Quick update of the CS Leatherneck and all I can say is its awesome!!! Out of the box sharpness is still there after a bit of use on saturday night. A couple of the boys that used it loved it aswell haha!! I'll put up a pic later on, might be a bit bloody tho lol!!!
Couldn't help myself and had to touch it up the the ultra fine stone and boy is it even sharp hahaha
Two thumbs up to OD
I sent over some sheaths to be repaired as the OE ones broke the stiching first time I
re-inserted the knife. All good now quality is second to none plus OD threw in some extra ones as well.
Especially like the Vanguard one [with knife] as the crappy nylon sheath was well poxy imo.
Again OD thanks heaps and it appears the mail goes faster up hill LOL
Going back the the first few posts in this thread, OD and I have nailed the origins of that bayonet. It was made in 1913 under the reign of Kaiser Willhelm 2 of Prussia'
The maker was C G Haenel of Suhl. Steel is Solinger and made at E&F Horster. It was made to fit the 8mm Gewehr Mauser rifle.
Nearly all of the 1913 KS98 bayonets were sent to the Schutztruppe in German east Africa,
My example is rare as it still has the leather scabbard most rotted in the African tropics.
This is a butchers bayonet defined by the sawback on it, butcher bayonets were banned by the Geneva convention as being too cruel so they were banned , with the English saying any german soldier caught with one will be tortured.
Again nearly all of the 1913 made were issued to the machine gunners,
more info is it from the 48 regiment,10th company and was the 138 weapon issued.
i found this very interesting to research again thanks to OD again
Picture with the soldier is a dress version, The tin scabbard is what they used to replace the leather ones with.
It is rare and value IMO is some where between $500-$900 after all it is 102 years old They were not made after 1918 to my knowledge
picture of the soldier with the long bayonet is a butchers bayonet, [note age and size of soldier]
there are many versions of the KS98 bayonet, long short, etched you name .
More than welcome bud and glad you like the repairs and extras :)
Happy the info helped out. I think a lot of confusion surrounding the "butcher's" name or variant is the fact of the saw back along the spine as it tears the flesh quite a lot as you could imagine.
I would still hold onto it until you found a genuine buyer for it or apply to put it on loan to the War Memorial in Canberra seeing as this year being the 100th anniverary of the ANZAC's entering WW1. Timeline of the bayonet fits in.
Good call on lending it out , I was toying with that idea with my local RSL.
Might run it past my sons and see what they say
We did that up at my old man's (my former local) RSL, with a heap of both his and my gear, along with uniforms, webbing, photo's, replica 303's and bayonets from our collection and other members from SASR (dad), 7 RAR, 10 TPT SQN (me), RAN and RAF/RAAF.
Some friends and I years ago, rebuilt the old bar into a bunker with sandbags, scrim netting, metal panels, gas masks etc to give it an early era feeling to it. The got the glass window behind made up showing Simmo and his Donkey.
sounds like it would look awesome, i'd love to go the East pPoint museum in Darwin
Im sure there would be pics of dad there, He was in 13th Squadron during the bombing in WW2
makes for good reading

Anyone got any new goodies recently? Thinking it is almost time to get me another piece but have put all knife purchases through wifey 1st as we don't know what is happening back wise. At least I can can still buy leather stuff.
