Did just wire up a headphone jack to the front door speakers. Now I can have music when stuck in the bush and not run the battery flat :) its not too loud but it's better than the nothing that was there.

How does that work?
How does it not run the battery flat though?
well you can get little speakers that play straight off the phones with no batteries but they are tiny never seen anything like it for a car.
Itll still work just not very loud.
Should only run the phone flat as quick as listening through headphones normally, the car has no stereo so I just wired a headphone jack to the speaker wires for the front speakers. It's not loud but still heaps louder than my iPhone speaker :) haven't tested it on the road yet but I reckon you'll still be able to hear it. :D I also have a 2x100w amp that has a volume knob that I could wire in if I feel the need. I think I could be onto something, who needs the radio or CD's these days anyways? Probably just saved myself $150 and a heap of wiring hahaha.
I'll post up a vid tomorrow for all you haters (Nissan GQ4.2) HAHAHA

Can stitch :D looks better than new now! Haha, will upload the video of the stezza tomorrow. Been too busy changing diff and gearbox oils, oh and stitching.

Here is the video of my stezza install in the new patrol.
Done a little bit of tidying up of the new old girl today, plumbed in the snorkel, painted the snorkel, cleaned headlights, stitched the number plate to the grill. Attachment 22171
Looking beast!

snorkel looks beasttttt. mate :)
Okay, an update to the actual patrol this build is about. FINALLY got her back from having the clutch and head gasket replaced. Pulled out the heater core to see what's broken, wasn't too hard pulling out the dash and heater I reckon I had it out in under an hour. Found this split in the side of the tank Attachment 22308
Going to have a crack melting it shut or some sort or resin if that doesn't work. If not I'll get a new core, if anyone has a good one sitting around I'll buy it!
Attachment 22309
I also picked up some new synthetic rope (12,000lb) and rope fairlead for my 9,500lb winch, just needs a new bigger clevis hook now to fit the end of the rope. I think my current hook has a 3/8 inch opening and I need a 1/2 inch. Sound right?
Ok so melting the plastic didn't work, I'll be looking for a new heater core now, I installed the new winch rope and got the clevis hook to fit. Moved the fairlead from the low to high position to allow the cable to roll off the spool easier. Attachment 22337
Because the rope was spooling off the top of the spool it was under more tension how it was before and was hard to pull off the spool how it was before. Here is a photo of how it used to feed out off the top of the spool and down out the fairlead.
Attachment 22338
Comes out a lot easier now, would this cause any problems with winching that i do not know about?
Just a better picture explaining of how it was before and after. Attachment 22340
You can see that before it came off the top and had to pull down and out to come off the spool, now it just comes off the top. I think it will put a lot less stress on everything and be easier to get off the spool. Any ideas as to if it's a good thing or a bad idea please let me know.
Brand new heater core should be here tomorrow arvo, brand new 35x12.5 GoodYear Wrangler MTR Kevlar tyres are here and paid for, 15x10 Procomp black steel rims ordered.
Just waiting for the bill for having the head gasket replaced, clutch installed, new low ratio diff gears, bearings, mechanical front locker, swivel kits, and whatever else I have had installed. Can't remember everything that has been done now lol
So... Heater core didn't show up, maybe tomorrow :( But it did give me plenty of time to pull the patrol into even more bits :/ completely stripped inside, only things left are front seats. Carpets have been cleaned, rear seats cleaned, re wired all the speakers and sub, moved wires from running along the doors to the middle of the car as I plan on not running carpets for a while and wires were just going everywhere. Deleted some Un needed wires for the stereo from the previous owner, when it came time to do the front door speaker wires it was really hard passing the speaker cable through that grommet that holds all the other wires from the door to the body. Is there an easy way to do this?
Ok, so the heater core turned up... But it's nothing like my old one ;( I ordered of through Repco over the phone based on size measurements alone. The size is close but the end tanks are on the wrong sides to ever fit, and the connections are wrong. Is there a difference between maverick and patrol heater cores? Attachment 22397
I have no idea about any patrol/maverick differences but Ive had bad luck buying from repco let alone buying from them over the phone:-(.
A good thing about internet buying is you can usually see a picture of the item.
Tap, crackle, pop
Range them today and hopefully have it sorted out, should be able to exchange it for the correct one tomorrow :) should have it back together just in time for a weekend splash :)
Well the replacement heater core never arrived, so I made something to do. :) started cleaning the floor of the patrol, lucky I did because I found a little bit of rust and the reason as to why the rear doors light switches never worked lol.

Attachment 22490Attachment 22491Attachment 22492Attachment 22493Attachment 22494
looking good, what did you use to clean the floor?
Sponge and water :) wet and dry vac to help dry it up. Had to go over it a couple of times to get it clean, I used some car wash in the first was and just water after that, oh I also had the hose trickling in there to wash the soap away.
Nice, are you going to coat it with anything like sound deadener? Or just fix up the rust
Tap, crackle, pop
Not sure, I'll probably just fix the rust some how. So much to do, so little time to do it. It will probably just end up being fixed and painted black again.
Ok so yesterday I got around to pulling the LPG system off the patrol, was pretty easy but I couldn't tell you where all the wires hooked up :/ . I have so much clearance out the back now, I was always catching the tank on the entrance to big holes. Anyone know of there are rules/laws for how I have to set up my filler necks? I was planning on having one filler cap and the hose splitting into two just after the cap so you can put the filler nozzle into each tanks hose. I was going to do away with the crap in the filler nozzle that only lets you use an ULP bowser and just have an open hole with two pipes in it. Attachment 22586

Well the patrol is back together and the new mud shovels have been fitted. I think I'm in love with the new stance that the Procomp 51 series 15"x10"-76mm rims give the patrol. Attachment 22828
In this first pic I only have the 10's on the rear and 8's on the front, I ordered 3 more 10's today so I can have one as a spare also.

But I am in serious need for wider mud flaps :/ better get onto that tomorrow or sat.
Sh!t yeah, that looks tough. Cant believe youre gonna sell her!
Operation: Big Juicy Flaps... AWAY!!!
Went out and picked up 2000x1200x4mm reinforced rubber matting for around $90 and 2 lengths of box section 30x30x450mm for $10. Measured out and cut to make some new flares for the wider tyres in an attempt to keep transport off my back with these wide tyres.
Attachment 22860
These weren't really suitable anymore.
Attachment 22861
This is how I used the new box section, I just hope transport don't mind. :( if not I'll cut it down a bit and help support the rubber with wire or something.
Attachment 22862Attachment 22863
Next I measured out what I would need to make the flare and the mud flap out of the one bit.
NEK Minnit....
Attachment 22864
Attachment 22865Attachment 22866Attachment 22867Attachment 22868
And then the rain set in so I still haven't finished one but they are all cut out and ready to go. They won't be the best looking, but will be functional and affordable.
So the rear is all flapped up now, not real happy with the way it looks but oh well. I ended up cutting the box section off level with the body, it looked dodgy as! Would have probably disemboweled somebody if I happened to clip them in some freak accident.
I'll prob do the fronts through the week as I'm still waiting for the new 15x10-78 rims to show up.

I just have to find someone to finish welding up my rock sliders so I can fit them up also.
Attachment 22901
I finally got around to driving her off road with all the new gear on. Did I hear some ask how it went?? Unstoppable!! Went everywhere I wanted to and only had 1 spot of trouble... When I hit a hole in RWD, selected 4wd Lo and off we went :)
Attachment 22942
Sweet as, where did you go?
Tough looking sliders too!
Tap, crackle, pop
Went out Mawbanna and hit up the power line track, then took a track from there to the crayfish creek caravan park and did the loop tracks on the way. I will upload some videos tomorrow if I get time.
I took this photo today of my two patrols, I wish the other one was standard so we could see the difference. Attachment 22988
Attachment 22989
So I finally got around to getting some longer chain do the mud flaps could hang properly. I'm happy with how they turned out in the long run.
Attachment 23125
Attachment 23126
Sure has the wide look now. :)
Attachment 23127
Interesting thing happened when I took her out bush last, the -78 offset 10" wide rims made me sit up on top of the ruts for the most of it, well at least 50% of the tyre was up on the top of the ruts and the other time the sidewalls were biting into the ruts allowing heaps of grip. While we are talking tyres, one of my new kevlars kept on slowly going flat. Then one night after a short trek off road I was doing around 50 around a corner and it finally let go, instantly went flat... This is what caused it :/
Attachment 23128
The sidewall didn't have enough rubber payed down before the Kevlar and what ever else goes into a side wall went in. This was the inside side of the tyre so it went unnoticed. You could push it in very easy around the spot about the size of a tennis ball. It was replaced next day for free :)
Well they sure are fat flaps!
I saw you in wynyard on the weekend:-)
Is that a mickey Thomson Kevlar tyre?
Tap, crackle, pop
Oh really? Outside that take away shop? Man I had some crap flake from there :( Goodyear wrangler Kevlar tyres.
