Trying to work out how I can get my hands on 1 of these
try midland disposals, they used to have heaps of knives.
Most it the MDS stores are more like BCF in drag now.
This 1 is limited to a run or 2000 knives. Hoping I can wangle some friends in the states to get me 1. Most places like Anaconda etc aren't able to bring in most styles they used to stock with all the restrictions in place according to 1 of the staffies I spoke to last week
Easy try tassienerida or similar my son just bought one try this shop

Just received my sharpening system, tried it on my Mundial boning knife and happy to say it works a treat.
Very affordable Blue is coarse then mild then a polish, then either strop it,, polish it or use a steel. very happy indeed.
silver side has differing diamond grit
I have a baby version of that set for small knives, haven't ueed it yet. I wrote on the back of each 1 to remind me which grit each 1 was.
Looking at getting a 10k stone and a strop as well
How do you sharpen using a stone??
I was tought figure 8's
Push away so you don't get that burr on the cutting edge, I also use Brasso and wet and Dry then polish.
just etched a knife after using those whet stones, you should be able to see how the softer steel is etched leaving
the harder steel
Have been reading mixed versions of sharpening, with and against grain of the blade. With bur and without bur.
Best finish still seems to be from using a strop though. Will try and find it but 1 guy fiinishes off by using a sheet if glass
Dad used to re finish his razor blades on the inside of a glass cup.
Glass is flat and not many use a strop these days, except all my old teachers.
Reckon growler may have copped a few too, sorry mate lol.
Strop removes the burr and polishes it a little IMO
Young bloke just gave me an early Xmas present :) not sure of quality but it looks good.
Bloody pic has gone upside down again?
Had a ringer on a bush job years ago who carried a small stone with him and every night he unfolded his buck and did two passes
one forward and one return, all night he would do that. He is like me and try to remove the shoulders so the knife is basically a big wedge, My butcher knives are like this
and bloody sharp as. "cause we all know accidents only happen with dull knives' Doesn't explain why I always cut my self though. lol
Crap steel wont hold an edge and never will. I think 27 degrees is what they say, but 27 degree is found on heaps of things, Baja Claw eg
most blades are edged at roughly 23 degrees, some right down to 15 and even 10 degress but it will depend on whether it is a bevelled edge or accute edge
Stropp, that is an awesome knife.
I have just ordered a new sharpening kit that adjust from 10-27 degress depending on blade type with 400, 800, 1k and 1500 grit stones and a 10k wetstone as well for finishing
Thx Jason, wasn't sure but it certainly looks good and has a reasonable scabbard but it doesn't feel super sharp but that may be because of my cooking knives that I keep very sharp. I should say the front of the blade is not that sharp, from where it curves that is very very sharp.
@OD are they the Japanese whet stones,?
not sure TBH, will check. the 10k stone looks almost like Jade / Emerald coloured stone.
Arkansas do a great multi coloured stone too with a price tag to match
I would think the Japanese stones would be awesome as they would use them to sharpen sushimi knives..
Here's an oldie I dug up in the shed my BIL made it must of been late 70's. cost me 3 stitches crawling out a tent
and stabbed myself in the knee with it. that's why tip looks funny as it broke off in my knee and haven't got around to re shaping
it till now, bloody sharp too, nearly the same as Growlers
sounds like you should steer clear of knives :)
it looks like it would hold an edge nicely
Yeah very bad hangover crawling out of tent with the knife facing the rear , just hit it with my knee not fun.
even cut myself today playing with a few knives , that I want to take next trip, its only blood eh. need to figure out what's a
work knife and which will go into display case
I am in the same boat, so far my 2 Frost Anniversary knives will be display only
I even have a full ox bone knife and scabbard intricate carving on it looks ok too
wifey spoilt me with an early xmas present as well, an excalibur inspired sword. will take a pic when I get home from work
Bought this 6-7 years ago $40 or $50 it's just a generc bayonet. They said replica .303 but defiantly not with a made in China stamp hahahaha
Attachment 38208
the lee enfields came out with various types of bayonets, the most well known and widely used was the 18" short sword bayonet.
@ growler that's a longer version of my AK-47 replica, But Winer Maker proved them not AK47
I've seen them 3 different sizes $20
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/360738118...84.m1423.l2649
the blade also looks thicker than a 303 bayonet as well. that 1 is more of a cheap SLR copy with it's size
First pic is an Aussie job right, Heres a neat Bowie by solinger

You haven't made me an offer for mine yet ??http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SWISS-MIL...item4178847ce9
More bayonets
that solinger is sweet, the swiss one's are different indeed. TBH I forgot all about it, need to go back through my messages and track it down
Old King Arthur and the boys needed huge fore arms to swing those swords around.
My Katana are manageable, but silly me took one fishing to cut up Carp, then I saw the price WW2 Katana bring
Next year I might make a perpsex cabinet to lock them all in, with some LED mood lighting lol

That is sweet bow TD, need a bloody permit for them over here now
Been PMing Growler about them no permit in SA, think one is needed here in the Nanny state but I'll check with Simon
Its not illegal to own one so that's a plus
