How to set your Patrol up for different uses

Is there anything I am missing or don't need or need to add as essential.

I would suggest that you join a club where you have a mixture of experience in driving and recovery. This will help you learn the ropes as it were for recovery without buying your own recovery gear and winch for example, and you will get advice from experienced off roaders about tyre pressures which may mean you won't need to be recovered. i agree get ratyed recovery points and a compresser as minimum. UHF is also necessary for off raod , but once again a club or club member may be able to "lend" a newby one for a few trips.

We do heaps of forum trips through the High Country, in fact we are all going to Licola for a long weekend next month.
When you get your car mate keep an eye out for trip threads and come along for a ride, we can walk you through everything. It's good to go out with experienced people to begin with.

Join a club that way you wont pick up any bad habits.
Then you can go and start to tackle different terrain and startr build some
confidence.
I think the RTT will be a pitb plus thats a bit of weight to carry up top,
and weight is your enemy it will put too much pressure one suspension components.
Think your accessories through and as some do go away and if they use it they put a red dot sticker on it.lol
You need to try and pack things that have more than one use when out camping.
But you get the picture.

I think there are several members on here that would teach plenty of bad habits (me included), nothing to do with driving though.

Never said you would but by joining a club at least you learn slowly
not just pointed at Zeka spur and say low 2 ,and keep the revs up.
A very quick learning curve if you ask me.

John you should know better than to think we would do that to a complete newbie...

Not saying any more on it but it even caught out an experienced member
last trip.
Every one can make their own mind up on Training

Thanks guys, I will definitely take you up on that offer. A few trips and I'm sure that I will have a better idea of what I will need.

@ Bradie now would be a great time to go on a Forum trip if you dont have much confidence/experience.
There are some very experienced drivers here and most of the knarly tracks are closed till 2nd Nov.
At the end of the day its your decision to tackle a hill or not if you dont feel right dont do it.
Most have a for want of a word a chicken track to avoid the nasty stuff.
You can also check out what others are using for camping , cooking, etc
Its the old story buy quality when funds allows it will last a life time.
and travel as light as you can, less wear and tear on everyone.lol
