As for the pic of the Cherry Venture, how long did they try and salvage it before they gave up. I did not realise it was as big as that.

Kangaroo Island?
IMHO, they did not try hard enough.
The stranded ship bought so many more visitors to the area, that the money they were spending locally made leaving the ship there
a bonanza for the local businesses.
It was only a few years ago the last of it was either buried or taken away.
Dentrecasteaux NP?
No. It is in SA. Just looked your suggestion up on Google to see where that was, looks like a nice place.
It sure is a nice spot at Dentrecasteux NP. I once whale watched a mother and calf from a beach there (dont recall the name at the moment) without another soul in sight.
I don't know SA well enough to have another guess sadly...
Looking at the coastline of SA around the bight there are dozens of islands that this could be.
Any extra info to help us along? Somewhere near Port Lincoln?
Not far from Pt Lincoln at all.
Coffin Bay?
Near enough. Coffin Bat Nt Park standing on a dune at Almonta beach looking towards Golden Island. Very rough bit of water around the reef out to the island.
What have you got for us?
See how we go with this one

Looks like Simpson to me, Big Red?
Sure is, was in 2010 when it rained non stop for the first 4 months of the year.
There were detours to get across Eyre creek and to get to Birdsville.
That pic was taken on the 5/7/2010.
We went on to Birdsville that afternoon.
Nice pic.
So was there some head scratching on trying to find a way through? I would imagine that it helped to make the trip memorable.
We got to Birdsville 16/7/2010, a couple of days later than we planned.
Was the best trip I have had so far, seeing the desert flooded is a once in a lifetime experience.
There were some detour signs in place, made it a lot easier.

This pic is our trip log, we planned to cross Eyre creek at camp 20, we worked our way down the creek for three days checking possible crossing points, each time we checked we found the water was about chest height. We got bogged several times but that just made it more fun. We all had to ring our works on the satphone to say we needed more holidays.
The Madigan Line is on our to do list in the next couple of years.
Your turn to put up a pic TP.
Got side tracked a bit there.
This one should be real easy.
Burke and Wills Dig Tree at Cooper Creek?
I have practically the same pic.
What year was that TP?
Is it the dig tree?
It is the dig tree, gingerboy got it.
That pic was taken April 2003, more fly's on that trip than I have ever seen.
Somewhere in Kakadu maybe. Have not been there mind you but watched Crocodile Dundee many years ago and it looks like that sort of country.........maybe
Bit of a hazy picture, but a few people will have been here for sure, and possibly experienced the sticky hot wind too (note the trees), just a hint to give you a bit of a clue.
Bit late, but if I see the pic again I'll snap it with the phone. It looks exactly the same bar the dragonflies.
Gingerboy, somewhere in Nth QLD near the cape maybe?
Yep you are in the right area :-)
Nope, further up Cuppa.
Cape Melville NP?
Bit further up still. I actually never made it to Cape Melville on my trip. Seemed like a bit of a detour at the time. But I heard it was good.
