Hi all
Been 5 weeks in Tas and today met up with Tassie Wombat and family
Had a good long chat and a coffee and a couple of beers.
As we are traveling around Tas for 3 months he offered us a place to service or repair any damage to our equipment and also a overnight camp.
This i feel is very generous and says a lot for members who have never met or know any thing about us.
As we are camping remote most of the time service is very limited so i will endeavor to do a report on our adventures when we get home
Also a thank you to Macca for his PM which thanked me and others who gave advice for his Canning trip. Pleased that he and his companions enjoyed their adventure
G`day Lucas
we have spent 5 weeks doing the NE and East coast down to Hobart
Mainly free or bush camping with the odd c/v park to do a bit of washing.
So far only had 4 days of what we might call bad weather
Its been a fantastic trip so far and we are not going to see every thing this time around so will be planning a future trip to do what we mis out on this time
Yeah cool. Very nice beaches down that side. Are you going down to eagle hawk neck? Id also recommend visiting MONA (museum of old and new art)
Camped at Foresque Bay for 3 days drove every track on the map. Spent three quarters of a day at pt Arthur and can say it was value for money and if anybody is going there allow a full day. the coal mines is worth a visit as is Remarkable caves and all the spot at Eaglehawk Neck where you can get the best pies we have had so far
And leaving my favorite till last, the west:-)
In the morning we are heading South to Cockle Creek for a few days the it will be back up the east side of the lakes to Launceston then back down the Western side of the lakes and across to Strahan and then North to Gods country
Hopefully we can catch up I will let you know where we are when we have service
Sounds good mate.
If you're able to go on the heritage boat cruise at Strahan, id recommend it highly. It goes out to hells gates, then stops at Sarah island and then lunch is served while you head up stream and check out the old huon pine history. Bloody awesome:-)
Finally got off my farken sick arse to do some work on the forum. lol
Regards,
RLI
And about time too mate!
Relaxing at Orca beach on Fraser Island watching fish jump in a little lagoon and trying to decide if I go for another swim or another beer, I will just do both.
@ TPC that's just wrong, boy did that hurt
Seeing that RLI is up and about
Wow you're going GOLD!? awesome, you will love it. Dont plan to drive later that day as the Gold tickets get you free champaigne:) (or used to) and the fresh boags flows all day:).
Also worth a look is the devil boat (speed boat) that goes up the King River to the old town of Teepookana. Full noise with 360's and a bit of history thrown in.
Brand new 15'' acer laptop home - up and running . Surfing and lurking the way I like it .
@ Lucas do you think Tiger is still around
or just tourism hype now
Finally after one year of BS'ing around the work care system has figured out how to get one sheet of paper from one side of Melb to the other.
Wheels are in motion for next OP, what a waste of a year, Paper work is wrong
@ Lucas I'd like to think there are a few left in the wildernest
Just saw the NP.com.au ad on the 4x4 show I taped yesterday ... Very nice. Even the wife said, ahhhh so that's what the stickers are about.
old teepookana town up the king river. This bridge was shipped from london in pieces "back in the day". The train track and all the bridges were brought back into commission a few years ago and is used as a tourist train now (The Abt Railway). You go full speed up this river on the devil boat trip, stopping at all the cool spots:)

The Abt railway has more than 1 bridge for every kilometre on its way up the King river to Zeehan (and originally to the Mt Lyell copper mine). The tourist railway is not far from closing and its a shame as its beautiful and i would love to see it while i can but at nearly $200 for a friggen ticket its way overpriced. This is a recent pic
