I want to get those brake discs nickel plated but can't find anywhere that can do it! Think I'll have to give up on the idea unfortunately, it would look great.

Try some paint stripper mate, works well. Looking good mate. Primer for sure. I used a metallic paint on the brake parts and reckon they came up a treat. Note that the ratchet she'll of the brake will have constant impact and I am not sure how well the Nickle will fair. The paint on that surface certainly takes a smashing.Quote:

I just cleaned it by hand the best i could from memory. It was fairly dirty and don't think i got it that schmicko before painting. Think i just used wire brush and other little brushes and the compressor.
Yeah the brake shaft is pretty hard to drill & tap. Think you need to aneal it to get a tap in. Reckon making a cap like Dazz an ABs is a good way too go. . .
