By the pic the crank and main caps all seem to be in tact. It looks possible that it may have hydraulic locked a little when the oil was pumped in on the licola trip it hasnt been driven with any load from then until now.Quote:

Crank also looks fine but I need to confirm this. Sump is a mess and will be fun getting out.

Bad news about the failure, Andy. I wonder if the company that supplied the faulty turbo should pay the cost of your replacement engine?
Especially since there was no coolant, only oil present to cause hydraulic lock.
Sump is off and can confirm the crank is 100% fine.
It looks like hydro lock rod in number 2. Everything else perfect.
This is so shit words can express how guttered I am.
No coolant, just oil, the previous turbo has ruined my engine!!!!
This new turbo is fine not leaking.

Ok, presumed, your old turbo leaked somewhere and pumped oil (too much oil) into the cylinder , thus hydro-locking it ?
