was just thinking about how much spent L6 verses v8.
nothing personal spent a fortune on my Gtr.
someone mention ugly! look at new cruiser hj60 revamp. yuck

Well, as fate would have it, doesn't go to dyno now till tomorrow. Oh well ...
Side note, they took it for a blot and although it was throwing out 18lbs of boost (and not pinging!!! It'll be wound back though), the comment was something like this :
"was doing about 50klm per hour in third gear just cruising. Put the foot into it about half throttle and it dropped back to 2nd, would up to 18lb of boost and the tyre nearly lost traction trying to accelerate (33x12.5 bighorns!!)."
And that's without proper tuning!!! I asked should I be expecting 200+ kw's at the rear wheels and the answer was a a conservative "yeah, reckon so".
I wouldn't get that from a V8 and I've spent about half what I was quoted to get an LS2 put in ...
Very excited!!
Oh, and the fuel overcut on the injectors is working also - essentially stops fuel injection when off the throttle. Little fuel saver, but I reckon it's all going to count!! lol. Taking it for a run this weekend up to Bribie towing the trailer so should be a good test for consumption up the freeway and on sand. Will post that up after ... if I get it back for the weekend of course!!! lmao
Congrats buddy I bet your exited. It sOunds like everything is finally falling into place for you
Dyno dyno dyno dyno
Yes but every red light means another chance to feel that turbo power!
It will be interesting to see the fuel economy in normal driving/touring, to test the theory that having extra power means the engine doesn't have to work as hard so should be more economical.
Tony
Not to mention the ability to keep the TC locked up now with the switch, so no dropping back a cog for small hills etc
Bugger the pics, WE WANT VIDS!
wtg bloke glad to hear its all coming together, ya finally just bout there...def looking forward to seeing that dyno :)
hey tank.
funny you talk about fuel economy, my gtr gets worse fuel economy 17 Lt per 100k trying to save fuel.
found using turbo to get up to speed limit quickly and then cruise , actual saved fuel.
you may find reasonable fuel economy giving bit of a squirt and change up and enjoy boost next cog to get up there while turbo on song, instead of holding gear and changing latter as you normally would have in the past, just a thought.
this could be especially true as you should now have oodles of bottom end due to caming and turbo, lucky man
Well, it's been "tweaked" and is on its way to the dyno - he commented that it's "very well behaved" even without fine tuning and is pulling pretty hard ...
Going with 15lb of boost and we'll see what results!! Going down in a couple of hours to take a video and will post that up tonight.
Fingers crossed .... again!! lmao
BigRig, a few pages back you mentioned you had found the cause of the problems Tank has been suffering, and that you'd post up the details when you'd had some shut-eye.
Did I miss it? Or was it the sooted up spark plugs?
Well, not much as I wasn't allowed in the workshop with the gear running (makes sense), but a short one of Tank on the Dyno.
Some truths are being revealed from the original sale information provided too - there's no way on God's green earth that it was making near 200kw at the rear wheels previously as the turbo actuator is about 7.5lbs ... it spikes up to 14 or thereabouts, but on the machine, plummets round 2000rpm back down to 7-8 lbs no matter what ... that's a problem I can get resolved pretty easily, and would expect a MAJOR increase in output. Additionally, the intercooler is struggling and air is essentially being pulled into the engine as it's working so hard, and subsequently stretching and thinning out the air (and heating it) - another problem for another day ...
BUT, on the last run I saw, it threw out 190HP/140kw's at the rear wheels (they are about 120HP/90Kw standard) and with all due respect, I'm happy at the moment with that due to the fact that it is quite simply just purring - runs awesome, fuel consumption rate (according to ECU - will be different under load on road) is down around 13-13.5 LPH at cruising RPM's and it sounds outstanding!!! More berries will come but not at the expense of the engine - that said, having driven it the other night, I would have said it has twice the power of original just in "feel", and I know for a fact (with witnesses) that I gave an Audi A6 a hurry up when he tried to take me off the line to get in front as the road went back to single lane. So in short, it's hauling.
Not going to change the intercooler, but will be getting a new actuator and electronic boost control put on it (not that expensive funnily enough) which he said would definitely see it well over 200HP at the rear wheels alone as it can actually hold 13-14 lbs of boost from 2500-4000 RPM (peak power range). Probably going to look into Water Methanol for the Intercooler issue and that was on the cards right from the outset anyway, so not too dramatised - proof will be in the pudding this afternoon when I drive it (and already I have plans!!!! lmao ... what a d!ckhead!!!!)
Anyways - short but enjoy the noise!!!

Ahhh the intercooler der of course its a bloody ford part theres the problem hahahahahahahahhahahahahaaha
Friggin hell he sounds soopa soopa tuff
Yep, definitely has a nice 'note' to it ... as said, find it funny about the power output results, as it certainly feels much punchier (I have gained a 56% power increase overall which isn't to be sneezed at I guess). I don't know ... I'm happy with the result, and as said, get to drive it properly this afternoon, so that'll be the telling factor for me. Didn't see the torque curve whilst I was there, and again, that's more important to me than outright tyre burning power - got a bloody heavy camper trailer to lug around!!! ... and the driver of course!!! lmao (start with personal trainer this afternoon by the way ... dreading it!!!!)
Righto - it's done!!! Going to pick it up now ... very excitement!! lmao
threw out just over 400nm of torque and one thing I didn't take into account with all the information in my previous post, is the large tyres!!! He actually commented that even though I'm looking at 140kw and 400+nm at the rear wheels, against the standard rating (90kw and 240nm) my tyres would be stripping as much as 20-25% (no joke) of the number off, basically, it is more likely close to double the factory output ... his exact words were "it's producing a truckload of torque" ... outstanding!!!!
I'm off ... trying to remove the smile from my dial will be a hard task this afternoon!!!
Thats double triple cheating then hahahahahhahahahaha
Oh Oh come on biggus chase me chase me giggle giggle......youve been a bad boy chase me chase me. Its cheating!!!!!!!!!
My missus trainer came round about 6 mths ago and smashed me, i couldnt move for a week hurt from the tip of me toes to the ends of me hair hahahhahahahhaa
Many excitements for ya mate. I will watch your vid when I get on the lappy:-) -:)
Glad to hear you can finally drive it.
And i love that you stuck with the nissan engine and have more power then a v8.
I t sickens me everytime i see someone has fitted holden junk into a patrol.
Dyno graph - going for another drive ... happy boy!!!!
Note - the torque is in foot pounds ...

And because I'm impetuous, the electronic boost controller etc is getting ordered tomorrow ....
Great to see all your planning and work come together BigRig!
Hahahhahhahahahhaa enjoy it mate
191hp will still beat a stock 5L dunnydore. Also get onto A.R.E in brendale and go through their tech section on intercoolers. proper intercooler will make a world of difference,
Thanks mate - will give them a call. Going to do the electronic boost controller first though ... once I know it will hold boost, then I'll look into the rest, but for the moment, I am just going to take some time and enjoy having it back!!
The power delivery has me impressed, no real 'sink in your seat' feel as the turbo spools up. Moreso a seamless delivery of power right through the rev range and it doesn't actually feel like you're hammering, but the speed pickup is more than impressive. I reckon you're right - that Audi A6 would have a far harder time of it now!!!! lmao.
Can't wait to hook up the trailer on Saturday and hit the highway up to Bribie to see what all that torque does ...
IMO I doubt you'll even know the trailer is there. for economy, it could be worse, you could have a 265 hemi, physics cant even explain where the fuel goes in those things
im planning to get an ARE intercooler.. give them a buzz scotty
