I've done some calling around today, there's a place in Melbourne called Duggan Balancing who can lightening the flywheel by 2kg, balance the pressure plate and flywheel and machine it for $310. Does that seem like a good deal? This new clutch is quickly getting expensive..
Sounds about right. Usually about 80-120 for machining, around 120 for balancing then the labour to take they weight off.Quote:

Mine cost me 250 for machining by one of the local fitter/turners who works a partical board plant, the balancing was done elsewhere with the engine, so I dont know what the flywheel cost alone.

Considering in this instance the clutch is $850 by itself. Its normally around 600 for labour to do the clutch. Then extras like rear main seal, flywheel facing etc.Quote:

When running these sorts of pressures and volumes good quality clamps are a must. Andy has been told which ones he should be using. Standard worm drive type clamps really dont cut it.

These sorts of ones. Have a thinner 14mm band to make it easier than the 19mm band ones.
these are the ones to use this is what we have on trucks we run 30 to 40 PSI but the amount of air that is moved is massive ......... i keep looking at the turbo in the workshop of a 15 litre cat and thinking can i shoe horn this sucker in :DQuote:

Remember to be well organised with this. The flywheel needs to be lightened and faced then the flywheel/clutch assembly balanced. So try to get everything booked in a way that it only takes a day or 2. Its achievable the last one I did we had the the flywheel out, lightened, faced, balanced and refitted in less than 48hrs.
Thanks mate, hopefully it all goes smoothly. I'm leaving it up to the business that's fitting my clutch to send it off to get it all balanced and machined etc. I've spoken to Duggan Balancing & I'll speak to them just prior to it being dropped off again just so they know exactly what I want. Thankfully it's not a daily so it's no biggie if it takes a week.Quote:

Booked in for tomorrow to get it all done. Asked for 1.5-2kg lightened. Will hopefully all be done by the weekend.

Something i should have done when I did the motor but my funds were already way over stretched.
