Love the sashimi knife!
Yeah it does have a different finish to the blade, that's what drew me to it.
bloody big 12" overall with a 6" blade.
Love those cast iron knives boy do they hold an edge,
the MOF prefers it over my Mundial knives down side is it smells like steel
so needs to be oiled, go buy one just for camping they are awesome,
Had to happen, sliced the top of my pinky, bloody sharp as all get out that sashimi knife.lol
talk about blood MOF calling me an idiot saying why so sharp,
and me replying its harder to have and accident with a sharp knife ,WTF that about ooohhhhh

will buy this stone for the tanto tactical knife so I can dress it in the field, there
is a small pouch on the sheath for it.
late edit:: more Molle pouches arrived oh yeah
Used to watch that show, Iron Chef?, all in Japanese.... used to love watching them use their knives so effortlessly.
I hate blunt knives and am always telling the War Office that blunt knives injure more people than sharp ones... may have to amend that now.. ;)
yeah Iron Chef is awesome those knives are $2000 plus a piece they are master Chef of the highest level
and their skill with a 14" sashimi right handed knife is mind blowing
wOOt speed lace hooks came in, just finished applying d rings to the trial guard
Have started on your guard as well HL.
Stoopid mc not letting me post pics again
Just bought 1 of those sharpening stones you put a link up to, need to get a couple of the small pocket stones as well.
The cross draw hunting sheath came in as well with the little pouch on it that also holds a flint stick, started drawing a template for them which is modified a little to allow up right mounting on the belt as well as side mounting
hope you are keeping all these designs?
Remember the LED torch I just got? And my Mil-Tech torch? I got a pouch made up for the Mil-Tech, years ago, but with the popularity of them, I will show you the leather holster and maybe you can come up with something similar. I will need one for my new torch as the nylon one that came with it is cr@p...
Just spoke to the War Office and she said a parcel had arrived.... Remember that Tanto Sword you showed me 3D? I think it has arrived!! Can't wait to have a look at it!
Cool good one lets hope it is,, this thread is all about knives [hobbies] anything really
Throw up some pics, was tempted to buy it as well but showed great control I think
Yup kept all of them, havent sent the drawing to the US yet but will be as I am hoping to get a true laser cut plastic template out of it (at least).
HL, no probs om working out a holster for the torch.
Just been asked to try and make some pistol holsters for a mate as well, gonna be busy soon with the LW stuff lololol.
If you like I can get laser cut stuff at a good price are you just using 1/8th as a template,
or is that too brittle

At least you can buy sheaths for the cast iron knives, I do have a cast iron cleaver but cant find it.
I'll have a good look tomorrow

Same shop sells very good steels as well
What does that equate to in metric? Around 3mm?
Interesting sheaths
yeah must be if 6mm = 1/4, seems a lot might be better
using stainless unless you need it to be transparent
Clear is a lot easier to use so I can see the remainder of the leather etc
6mm would suit as it would be stronger
2 different styles done, just need shock cord, elastic strap or lacing to finish off
Looks great OD! With the hooks one, you can save on using the eyelets just by passing the shock cord through the leather...
Graham Cahill from 4WDA is going to put 1 of my arm guards through it's paces :)
from little things big things grow
I'm sure I said something about your new career taking off earlier! You will have to come down to archery when I get back. You should be able to get some orders from there...
Do 3D and I get to name your new company? :D
Backless leather chaps ohhh yeah
@ HL heres a closer look.
Can't get the scales off the tactical I have full set of torque bits but my smallest is too big Might have to mask it up and use a spray can
SWAT Leather Goods sounds about right lololol
Picked up some shock cord and elastic strapping so should be able to finish all 3 armguards off today
Swat Leather solutions more up market eh SLS
I likey :)
I can't wait to hear some of the more 'alternate' leather crafts you are going to be asked to make....
@3D, I probably would have brought that knive John, but hate the saw back look.... I do find the indentations on the blade strangely alluring. Other than that, she's a beauty! (Can't wait to see the Bumble Bee!)
Nearly finished your arm guard Gecko, 1 more piece of shock cord to go and waterproof the backing to reduce the dye coming out.
My Gimp pass came in the mail, feeling old care of the GP
All done except water proofing, now to finish the other 2
You'll find you'll get some looks with that permit, But all I do is say its the driver who is disabled not the vehicle lol
Notice yours says Australia permit must be national now
@ Gecko its a horse of a knife you wouldn't be disappointed with it, I put it in my to watch list then pressed see similar
and ended getting this for $45, The tanto part I'll keep razor sharp the rear part of blade I'll use for chopping
So basically this will now be my camp knife
Yup the new ones are National now, got a few looks pulling into bunnings gimp bay until I nearly fell out the troll and put the pass on the dash lol
Mine is only a 6 month pass at this stage but I can get a1 extension on it if needs be. I suppose using my original injury forms I could get a permanent 1 as I got listed with 15% disability
Now see how mad you'll get when a hoon drives in and pulls out his label. You'll notice
no one that uses it is disabled GGGrrrr
Hahaha yup have seen that before.
2nd guard finished universal left or right arm wear but MC not letting me post pics again
These guards are to stop the string {?} from ripping your forearm open eh,
I saw a guy on Blokes World Dry fire a compound saw.His fore arm was a mess ,
blood blisters everywhere, geee it looked painfull,But I don't think you should dry fire a Bow anytime
Given up on my Buck tactical folder, bummer
EDIT 4 more molle pouches arrived plus some 100mm Velcro
Now to mount them
Dry firing a bow is ALWAYS a recipe for disaster! Due t the forces involved, it can splinter the fibreglass limbs and bows have been known to shatter.
My compound bow is 60lbs and I have only hit my arm, majorly, once... forearm was black, blue and purple for a week wit massive bruise! Not fun, I can assure you.
next project is to fix a few of these onto a board or frame so I can attach to the inside of rear door.
Not a fan of the table on the door, so it will be storage whilst in transit .
Might even put some on the cargo barrier?
Im back on Tuesday OD, so if you're free, can catch up on Wednesday... try the arm guard.
Sounds good to me. I will be looking at getting a 60lbs bow later on in the year
If I don't get back into pistol shooting again, I will look at getting a hand-made Long bow. Let me know when and what you are looking at as I should be able to get a decent price through archery....
Have some Histoacryl for you too.
is it poss to get that histoacryl from my doctor for my first aid pouch.
going to cut a bit of 10mm ply the size of the rear door and fix some 25 x 25 mm mesh to it
then fix my molle pouches to that
@HL + Geko do you guys run a 4" exhaust by any chance??
Took the scales off the tactical to powder coat but they are some kind of composite,
so I'll grab a can of Galmet bright yellow and give them a spray, bummer
Bumble bee here I come mmm
two strips of this mesh should be heaps to hold a few pouches
I'll space it off the ply board backing about 6mm
