Straight through. No muffler, no hotdog, no cat converter... just a piece of pipe from the motor to the tip. Are you waiting until you fit the turbo?

Just went 3inch no mufflers, small drone at 100km/h. But other than that very very quiet in the car. No so much outside.
What about 4"?:p
This is still your daily yes?
Yep, me and AB both used the same bloke in Bayswater. Couldn't recommend him highly enough, did an awesome job and very cheap. Mine needed pretty much everything new on the engine bay side of things, works great now.
The problem with the GQ air con is they were a dealer fitted option, not a factory item, so there are sooo many different fittings out there. Just easiest to take it to the professionals and they will get it sorted. You'll need them to gas it anyway. Let us know if you want the name of this bloke. Probably a good idea to get in soon,, they get pretty busy once the weather warms up!!
By the way the car is looking very good :)
On Saturday I drove up to Matfews place in Gisborne and many of you might know that its is a long up hill trip heading that way and the car ran well but noticed it blowing lots of smoke on the real steep sections.
On any level bits of road I did not notice smoke at all.
When I got to Gisborne I happened across Matty heading home so got him to follow me and he said it blew as much smoke as Kallens rig (in other words a lot) and it was nothing to worry about and being I was putting a turbo on not to bother with adjustment.
Only the day before I got a bend made up for the end of the exhaust as it was blowing soot onto the rear bar and it was covering the back door, this helped this problem perfectly but I thought it was funny that just from one trip up the freeway the tail pipe had changed colour to a technicolour dream... it got that hot.
When I got to Matty's we loaded all my gear into his car and took that for our shooting trip and even though his is a basic set up with no intercooler it felt so nice.
Sean drove that night and his car is an NA and I should have asked him how it felt in comparison.
When we got back to Matty's place I loaded all my gear back into my car and set off with just about the whole drive down hill back to Melbourne.... it was a perfect drive (except for needing wheel balance) and the weather made it all the better.
I love having my car back !!!!!!!!
Wooo! So motor is running fine then?
Matts car felt much nicer, it has better gear in general like suspension.
As far as the turbo it was much more responsive not much chugging, the turbo spools up quickly and the throttle always felt more responsive. A big difference in 4 Low.
If you remember the hill climb after the first paddock that has always been in my mind a place where I was curious as to how a turbo would effect the climb. In my n/a td42 I always end up in second, in Matts we went back to second but much later and if I had been more aggressive at the bottom perhaps we might have made it in 3rd.
Yeah the more I drive it the better it seems to feel.. Still needs valves adjusted hot.
Been thinking when I can afford it and if I can find a good set but Nissan X-Trail T31 seats are so comfy and are narrow so I think should fit well in a GQ.
When driving back from Pambula Beach I stopped for a total of 15min and felt it was no trouble driving more than 7 hours sitting in those seats.
I've seen Honda Prelude seats in a GQ and they are great!

cheers fellas i'm happy with my rig atm. Few small things just to improve getting away etc but its getting close now.
Jonnos went well. pulled up the hill nicely heading to my place with a far bit of smoke lol.
Looks like you be the only lonely TB on the next trip we do Drew. Its ok we'll all carry a few litres of petrol each for you hehe
What's wrong with you commodore seats?
Sounds like things are coming along nicely Jonno, give it a boot full and blow the cobwebs out and that will sort it out...LOL
That is because his is a silver GQ!! Ha Ha!
Sounds good Jono, blowing smoke should make it go good if its overfuelled! Sounds like the pump needs some love tho once pump & turbo are done you won't know yourself, especially on a long bush trip where you dont even need to think about enough fuel or if it will start on gas or not!!
Onwards and upwards!!!
Just picked up my 3 inch straight through system from a local mob for $450.... I cant wait to be set up.
Then I will become one of those dosing dickheads on fartface !!!!!
Does that mean turbo will be fitted soon :) Pretty reasonable price, can't complain about that.
Yeah not bad! Turbo soon then?
Yeah pretty happy with the price for a mandrel bend system... only mild steel but its all I can afford after the sale of my efi loom.
Find out if I will get it installed before next weekend, woot woot !!!!!
What do you mean only mild steel? What did you want instead?
Mild steel is fine. Preferably a 2mm wall if you can.
Hmm maybe 3 or likely 4 depending on price. It will be interesting to see the costing
Custom made. You just got to know the right people :).
Here is a bit of an update....
I ended up taking oil from the oil pressure side off a T-piece to feed the turbo after I starved it and the car sounded like a truck and blew tonnes of smoke.
The turbo I got was a cheap deal I got but is proving to be just that.
It is a shwitzer turbo and came with an intercooler off who knows what?
Now yesterday I went for a drive since fixing the boost leaks and getting oil to the turbo and it felt ok but today I fitted a catch can and plumed the wasted gases to the low pressure side of the intake and now the car does not seem like it wants to boost ... before it was flat out getting to 7 pound but I dont think it even manages that now.
There is also a really bad vibration through the pedal and seems to vibrate through the whole car.
It does not blow one bit of smoke now at all and is also bloody loud.... like driving a Kenworth.
I managed to get my new pyrometer to work and on the freeway under light load at 95kmh it was sitting on 350-400... coming onto the freeway it gets over 450 pushing 500????
Right now I cant stand it !!!

Disconnect the catch can and see what happens to the boost.
Pyros are way to high,
When did the vibrations start?
How big is that turbo?
