Nice but pricey, the airborne knife looks stupid
Got a plan to get the Toothpick, first I need to buy my new solar set up
then the Gil Hibben toothpick
@ Growler hows that home made bowie of yours coming along?????
@ Geko how good is that Toothpick???
Caught up with Gecko yesterday before he flew out, the toothpick is awesome. Only downside is that the emblem is on 1 side of the handle only, needs it on both sides as when it is in the sheath, the emblem is hidden.
Got my Gerber the same as Gecko, finally came in the mail today. Top knife and super sharp.

Working on a new belt at the moment, 40mm wide so it will be nice and sturdy.
Also have a 51mm holster belt to work on as well.
Ok I have just started looking for a couple of knives for hunting and field butchering, and am totally confused by types/brands/materials! So I was hoping to get a couple of suggestions from you experts on some good quality knives for:
Small sharp knife for skinning and general field butchering
Larger more robust knife for separating ribs removing hooves etc
Also any suggestions on a stone or hone for sharpening them in the field?
Thanks!
There are so many styles of both knives and sharpening systems out there that it comes down to personal choice.
2 field shapreners I highly recommend are the Gerber Field Myth and the Smith's Combo. Both are small enough for the pocket and come with tungsten carbide, ceramic and diamond sharpeners for both straight and serrated blades.

Knives need to be sturdy, full tang and no frills types knives. A Good general purpose knife that will skin etc is the Gerber Field (forget the rest of the name) like this pic.

Doesn't have a gut hook but if you're careful, it won't matter.
Earlier on in the thread, there were some pics of a Gerber combo that also includes a skinner with gut hook and another general purpose knife which has been used on rabbits and goats from memory, which worked well.
Other option is to get a dedicated field kit that includes a bone saw and some will have a spreader as well.
TD and Gecko will have some more options for you but simple is usually best. Owning roughly 50-55 knives at the moment, I keep heading back to the same couple of knives that suit me most.
New belt I am working on at the momemt. Really need a manual Arbor press to make things easier.

For skinning as suggested a full tang is the go, with what is called an upswept blade, maybe with a gut hook on the top edge
heres some pics of small skinners. You can buy field kits that come complete with chest spreader, saw, axe the lot
