Well I just saw BA's new donk in the flesh and it is really coming along he obviously made it up to mine all good. Those black bars do look really good it off sets the colour of the car nicely. Hopefully some day I will be able to start my rebuild.
Well I made it there and back with no problems.
Terrible shake from a shit tyre I put on the back while I fixed the other and I am not sure of a couple other small issues net..?
Got to 3500rpm but strains to do so.

Looking really good mate! Glad to hear it's all coming. Did your tune quieten down the motor at all? I think I'll book into JPC soon for a once over.
Before I headed out this morning I had one thing I just had to do.... thanks to mudski and his ebay store I scored a set of door switch rubbers... seems like not much but believe me they are a god send.
On the brindabella trip I had to disconnect my door lights as they were driving me nuts thanks to perished rubbers.

I did a quick squirt down the back streets and got to 3800rpm with no real restrictions... I backed off before 4000rpm as it just does not sound natural revving the shit out of it?

They are fairly noisy when you get there but it won't kill it that's for sure. My gu will turn easily to 4000rpm they aren't quiet about it and I'm pushing 25psi with a 3" straight through pipe.
I'm not saying you should do it every gear change just but not being scared to do it occasionally isn't a bad thing. Maybe it's just me but mine will see 3500rpm every time I drive and it's still going well at 330k on original motor with original pump and injectors.

The tacho is more like a guideline than a rule. Anyway, I've heard that a diesel's bore can get glazed if they don't get worked hard enough. Is that true NN?

Yes i understand that and i know changing the actual cam timing change the power curve to be earlier or later to give you more or less revs BUT what i'm saying is my motor stock standard with no mods at all will see 5 - 5,500rpm daily without any hassle and without any modification were a stock standard out of the box td will not. Well it might but not for very long, even my tb complains about it by putting its tappets out of adjustment but ahh well lol.
I heard about that but i heard some people saying 300hp (200kw) others saying 300kw (400hp) but didn't know if it where true lol

Hodge stopped around the other week with a little present in the way of a pair of TD42 stickers and cant wait to put them on.
Also might see about getting tyres balanced and going for another run to see if the vibration has gone... George fixed my other tyre and fitted it this afternoon so the violent shaking should be taken care of.. shame when a brand new tyre has a damaged sidewall and is so out of round it is more like an egg, it is usless and for the tip.
No need to really change the cam timing. It's all in the fuel pump.
A general guide for diesel rwkw is its capacity. So for a 4.2 around 265rwkw (265ci) as it's limit. However with technology advancing the way it is and a lot more people playing with diesels this is not so especially with the likes of the dura max and cummins engines. I have not heard of anyone breaking the 300kw mark on a td42 yet.
No Mark it is stuffed and far to dangerous to keep.. a shame really but better to get rid of it than be tempted to use it.
