Thank you... being I have been a petrol guy my driving life I have no idea about what diesel work costs except it is usually expensive.... and yes I think it just needs a tickle but not 100% sure that there is something else?
Now I just need some money to pay for it.... ha ha ha ha ha... eerr wait thats not funny..

How to prepare your car for a holiday..

The ends you have to go to to try and secure your car from theft.
Just booked into jpc performance mainly because it's just around the corner for 2 weeks time..
It looks heaps better with that black bull bar mate.

Used JPC years ago to turbo my old lux. They were good, good service and were rereasonable price. They've done heaps of td comp trucks too.
Today I quickly fixed the inner guard and flare then fitted the 33's.. also did a quick check to see how well ab's bullbar lines up with my scrub bars and it is spot on.
Looking good I think.. need to do a couple of small things before its Tuesday appointment.
My time away on the nsw south coast did me the world of good not thinking about the car.

That bar looks good on your car.
Yep another fan of the black bar. It's such a universal colour and makes any coloured patrol look good.
Looks really good man, getting there slowly.
Walking home from jpc after dropping off the car. .. Rob the mechanic said the engine sounded good and he is pretty sure it is the injectors that are stuffed.
Still very nervous about what the results will be.
Fingers crossed.
Well it looks like its the injector pump.... I have 2 pumps and we fitted the one with the tapped up fittings??
Might try the other pump first then take it from there.
Some good and bad from this.....
I sold a 270k old stock GQ injector pump for over $500 last year so I hope it's not that.
Fwarrk... just spoke to Diesel Tec and not sure that I feel any better, ha ha ha.
Just got home from picking up the car and it is a big improvement on before but a long way off being right...
Winnie what did you end up doing with your pump and what did it cost... via pm if you like..lol.
Funny I have been driving the sedan for 2 months and now the gq feels like a kenworth.
What's wrong with the pump?
Bugger he sold it mate. I have a guy over near AB that does pumps and does good work. Plenty of comp guys using him. When you start talking UFI the price goes UP.
If you want to have a chat with my guy let me know mate. Would be the time to fit a 12mm plunger though while it's apart but any mods cost, savings are made in that the pump is in bits anyway.

What did jpc have to say? Did they just do timing and fuel mix?
As daz says prefect time to get the pump sorted now but I know its just more $$$$$ isn't it hmmmm.
12mm pumps are a big step up from a NA 10mm and may be over the top for BA's application. But on the appropriate setup 12mm pumps really come into their own. The costs might be up there but it will basically be new when you get it back none of this guessing with secondhand pumps.
I have done nothing with mine. My car has a stock GU pump on it. So instead of the 10mm plunger found on the GQ it has the 11mm plunger and a boost compensator.
It does need a rebuild though and when it is rebuilt I will ask diesel tech whether he will do it or who he recommends. I will stay with 11mm though.
12mm is over the top for you.
I couldnt help myself and just went for a drive.. still heaps to do so everything felt unfinished.
I got onto the freeway for the first time and stretched its legs a little, it blows no smoke that I can see now and pulls past 2000rpm.
What is the usable rev range on an NA?
I checked and changed air pressures in the tyres as it was all over the place and all these things add up to that crap feel when driving.
I have only driven Winnies car on the tracks so have no really idea how its supposed to feel on the road and Winnies is set up well with a turbo.
There is a bit of vibration and not sure if its normal or not and it has not had its valve clearances done while hot yet as it seemed a bit tappity .. more so than what I would expect.
Mark at JPC said that the pump was not feeding one of the cylinders properly and he also said compession was good across all cylinders.
He said injectors were fine... his advice was to either send mine away to get some love or find an 11mm pump from a late GU TD42.
Bloody good news about the compression slowly sort out the other stuff and should be bloody good. Havent driven a na one but would thing they wouldn't be that keen to rev out.
They make power to 4000rpm, dont be shy. Clean the cobwebs out
Edit.
Keep the pump you have now until you can afford a turbo, then spend money on it
Really ... I was tempted to give it a good go and thought to myself it probably needs a good run... I still need to sort a few things first.
The speedo is not working and need to trouble shoot that, I had to use a speedo app while I was out before.
My tyres are out of balance also so that does not help.
Early days I guess and clearing my head for the last 10 days has helped.
yep there is a reason why there is a red bit on the tacho.
Having a quick catch up on your thread last night and again tonight I think it sounds pretty positive BA. Not quite to the end yet, but the good compression across all cylinders is a big win compared to the scare earlier. At least now you know you can slowly get there as you get the $$$ together. If compression was stuffed that was going to be a killer.
Did you get the Dyno sheet from JPC? They would show your power curve through to 4,000 I would have thought. When I first did the Dyno I found another 1000 revs for sure mate, until then I'd never really gone past 3000 but it bogeys to 4k now.
I keep forgetting you don't have a turbo yet, I would run that pump until your cashed then do the turbo and pump build at the same time. You can spend a bit or a Sh1t load though.
Chasing 120rwkw is realistic and reasonably priced, chasing 150rwkw is significantly more, chasing 180 to 200rwkw is a whole lot more money.

I will go out tomorrow and see what it will do... I really did just putt around and only went on the freeway along to the first exit so did not go far.
Maybe I will take the boy for a decent trip up the freeway for 30 min or so... hopefully I dont need rescuing ..he he !!!
Well by the sounds of it, it is good news man. Glad to hear. If you are going for a burn up the freeway for 30 min and need rescuing ( not that you will) give me a buzz I am home all morn once I have dropped the kids off.
