Just scored myself a timber rattler as well, slightly different scales and pins though and a fixed mountain man, well I got 3 maountain man knives as a mate wants 1 and got 1 for the old man as well
Some nice blanks there TD, will be doing some of those this year as well

OD, what's the story on bringing in double edged blades in to WA? I seem to recall that I heard that customs don't like them... I really, really, really want a Gerber MK2... always have.

This is priced ok ,
double edged knives ,daggers or swords are a big No no, same as any spring assisted opening knife.
I had my leatherman confiscated by customs twice as they said the blade was loose and could "FLICK" open
what rubbish it was just a handy tool for their job, bloody thieves
Not allowed to import them unless you have an import / collectors permit and written permission from the minister.
The TR I got is the Timber Rattler brand itself. Haven't got it but will grab a pic off the website

next hitch eh, they do medieval re enactments so now you'll need to find a leaf spring off a car and go for it.
next time Im at a shop I'll grab a spring and see how a dagger will come up. OD will be able to make a sheath for it down the track.

Was going to buy a Claymore sword, from the guy that made all of the Lord of the Rings weapons, to put behind our family crest. Would love to make one but in the too hard pile at the moment. I have heard about a blacksmithing crowd that hold get-togethers in Perth on Sundays. I plan to go there with OD to check it out. Learn about forging, heat treating etc...Quote:

Gonna be in the crap for this 1 but just ordered a Gerber LMF II fixed blade with strap cutter, leg straps, built in sharperner and is also MOLLE compatible.
That will be me done for awhile on getting knives.

I've even got my g-grand ma's carving knife marked "special steel"
this pre dates stainless putting the knife around 1835, its beat up to blazes
but a part of my family history. Then I have a file marked "Warranted steel"
mean the file was poured/forged I find it interesting others may find it boring
