As already mentioned just don't rush into anything and make sure you are 100% with the purchase.
If your gut feeling says otherwise then trust your instincts.
I spent over 6 months finding my GQ and was very close to buying about 2 other GQ's (which were no where near as good as the one I found) prior to finding the perfect one!!!
Patience is the key mate and just keep asking any questions if you need help or unsure if It's the right one.

Every time you see something of interest save it in your watch and see what it goes for
Even when the add is all finished leave it there for a good few weeks then see IF it gets relisted
Those that sell gives you a market price of what they sell for,those that dont sell maybe follow threw to the seller and see why
But getting a good GQ is getting real hard, good ones priced well dont last even a day
They are in high demand
Make sure you are cashed ready to pounce on the right one

As ET mentions the late end GQ TB42e /auto are the pick
Dont be overly fussed on service history,its no the be all and end all on a 20 odd year old rig

guys, I am after a set of MQ/MK wheel nut covers
they are plastic and fit over the wheel nuts as well as the center of the dif
the front ones have a hole for the front hub to "poke" through

Just after a 33" tyre for a spare as I have fitted the 33" Mongrels on the weekend and have no spare.
Cheap tyre with little tread is what I'm after in the Vic area....Cheers!

Have you tried ringing the tyre joints...I've picked up 2 very good tyres for me trailer a while ago for $50.....worth a try

I read this thread last night. I went to OL in Orange today, they could not help, suggested that I go to an engineering place, which I did, but they wanted $200 a side. Not paying that, $400 total.
OL had some Outback Idea points but they did not fit properly as they wedged themelves at an angle between the air deflector under the bull bar and chasis rail.
Went to ARB, they had a smiliar one, which they copied and made themselves and did exactly the same thing.
I even looked at the landcruier points but they were too wide and did not line up with the holes and rubbed up against the mounting braket for the bar.
This is my problem. I've looked and tried and now confused, what to do?
All you can do is keep trying recovery points from different manufactures until you find some that fit properly.
Are you able to take a photo of your car to show the air deflector and chassis rail? Is it possible to trim the air deflector a bit to allow the points to fit properly?

Hey Mick, before I upgraded my 2007 GU to my current 1990 GQ, I purchasedt some recovery points from Mandurah ARB and they were great.
Try your local ARB shop and if they do not stock them let me know and I will find out the manufacturer for you mate.
I thought of trimming the deflector, and that's probably what I'll need to do. OL have two points ready to fit, but the chasis rail only has one set of captive nuts on the inner right hand side of the car, the left hand side does not have captive nuts, but holes are in the correct position.
I will try to get some pics up tomorrow arvo of the holes on the chasis rail.
Attached is a picture of the type of plate that OL is selling, the three triangular holes at the top line up with the three holes on the side of the chasis rail.
The large oval shaped hole is parallel to the ground, the point leans to the front of the patrol.
I will probably go with these, but just wanted other options as I'm not keen on cutting things up under the car.
Hope this clears things up.
Mick when I fitted mine, similar to those I just remembered that I had to use the angle grinder to cut a section out of both sides of the front skid pan/protector, just letting you know mate before you purchase them check it out.
take a look at mine on my pic`s much better than those flat plates, they are blo%dy hard to fit
the ones i have bolt straight in existing holes no modification at all

Where is the best place to get an engine rebuild kit for a y60 td42, that we also would like to turbo in the future
has anyone got a set of extractors to suit a 4.2 non turboed diesel --99 gu cab chassis--i know it would be rather rare to find some ,but i am just putting it out there---also chasing a front grab handle that goes on front pillar,greyish green in colour--cheers boagie:D
4.2 diesel uses the same extractors as 4.2 (and 4.5 I think) petrol, so not as rare as you might think.

Got the recovery point on yesterday. Three Super Hi-Tensile bolts and plate for $70, thought that was okay.
Took a bit of effort to get one of the bolts in, all three are now super tight and ready to go.
if you go to ARB they have recovery points for GU's from $90.00 each plus fitting had mine fitted at penrith ARB late last year
What I want to know, is why does it cost $90 for a piece of 10mm plate with a few holes in it, even 12mm plate , plus 3 hi-tensile bolts.
I could easily make a similar plate, even thicker and out of bizoloy for probably $10 max in material cost, plus say $15 worth of bolts and washers.
Are these "bought" ones tested and stamped with a load rating?
No, I don't make them, and not trying to drum up work, but I tell ya what, I'm thinking of it!!
