I kmow I know, where getting over all this but I just read this, them blokes from action and ROO are still banning own and getting childish on social media.
But this fella claims he work for the mag. I think he should be the new boss

Let me begin by saying I work at Action. However, in the interests of keeping my job I must write this under a different name.
The issue isn't the fact that Roo and Tigerz sell cheap products. There will always be a market for such gear. It's more that the heavy and subjective promotion of those products in and by Action at the expense of established quality products delivers us a massive editorial credibility problem.
The fact is that you are interfering with the editorial independence of the writing staff because of your financial interests. It is the reason why, for example, there are no more product comparisons in 4WD Action. You banned them. Because it wouldn't do to have products you have a vested interest in, not winning the comparisons. The last product comparo, if I recall correctly, was the disastrous air compressor issue.
Reading Action, you could quite easily come to the conclusion that a Chinese Roo bullbar or a Tigerz 11 winch is of the same quality as an ARB bar or a Warn winch. And that is misleading our readership and making us the laughing stock of many people who have spent a long time in the industry.
Speaking to industry leaders as I do on a regular basis, our reputation is mud. Our attachment to Roo and Tigerz has done irreparable harm to our standing amongst many of the established companies that helped found 4WDing in this country. Not because they sell cheap products, but because of the deceptive way they are promoted by Action at the expense of anything else.
Action is still a good read, and great value. That, and the lack of decent competition, is why sales continue to grow. But your focus on making money over editorial content is gradually destroying the quality of the magazine. Staff turnover is ridiculously high. Freelance rates are so low that many writers and photographers will no longer accept jobs. More and more stories are written and shot by people with no experience. Editorial quality is declining. As you have said, many advertisers have pulled out.
If you're not careful, your prediction that the print market is declining (despite the evidence to the contrary) will become a self-fulfilling prophecy as the readership wake up to the fact that you're more interested in selling cheap winches than delivering a quality, objective magazine.
Good read oh Forced one.......... I hope that guy was clever enough not to sign into the forum from his/her home address or found as way to hide their IP address lol
Don't slap it, tap it!!!!

Heard about this, some saying this was already a planned move before all this come out.
On another note. Check out ARB's website, they mention on there twitter account about this sale , some of there stores around AUS are having big pre stock sale.Called ARB nundah today, they were opening at 7 on Saturday now opening at 6.
I will be there at 5 with a fair few other by the sounds of it,hoping to get 1 of the 4 45lt ARB fridge freezers for $400 recondition 2nd ones.
If all the cheap stuff was rubbish and the expensive local stuff was top notch, then no one would buy the cheap stuff. But clearly, they are selling it cheaply and making a profit, so clearly not everyone wants to pay top dollar for the expensive top notch kit, people are going for cheaper options and taking a risk on the quality, which often turns out to be good. Australia can't continue with the isolated island attitude, charging excessive prices for local stuff and denying competition from anywhere else. As in the rest of the big wide world, there's competition and companies must adapt to survive. If the high cost of local products is what people want to pay for the quality, then there would be no market for the cheaper stuff, but that's not the case. If local companies want to compete then they'll need to justify their high costs with high quality otherwise customers are going to see right through it. Local companies need to adapt to the market. And yes I work for a local manufacturer.
The thing that annoys me is that the SAME products, built in Australia- exported to America and the sold via amazon/ eBay back to bloody Australians....can be Cheaper to purchase from overseas and be bloody shipped back!
That is BS and price gouging of the highest order, and I reckon it's about time ARB and TJM realised that the Internet has destroyed their stranglehold on the market. They either adapt or watch their market share dwindle even more.
As for the Roothy/ tigerz 11 shite... I get spammed regularly and just delete the emails.
They have done themselves no favours with the "protest sale" guff... But neither have any of the big players in the industry by ripping people off for the last 20+ years.
If anyone says its not driven by money, and that have "Australia's best interests" at heart, just laugh and walk away.
It all about COIN.
That's my measly 2 cents on the subject.
Cheers
Their targeted audience are not serious 4WDers or people who have been doing it for a long time... it's generally people new to it all who don't know any better and think that it's a great bargain! One of my mates is a sucker..... he has been burnt by them before but keeps saying he will buy their stuff.
I have an awning, a roof rack and a winch and they haven't failed me yet.
I know the risks, I maintain em and I use em.
And those three purchases saved me and my family about 2500 bucks as opposed to walking into ARB and plonking down my credit card, and saying "please rip me off"
Each supplier has its merits, and the smart consumer can make up their own mind, without falling for hype and counter-hype.
If my gear fails... I will fix it.
Pretty simple. Screw warranty, I don't need it, so I take the risk.
Other people can do what they want.
The reason people are negative towards the 4wda magazine, tigerz and roo isnt really anything to do with out-sourcing. Its to do with quality control, theres plenty of angry people that have received substandard products and customer service from said brands. But really, i think the things that has got most peoples back up are:
the fact that the magazine has turned into a product brochure but will not admit it.
the mascot roothy constantly shooting his mouth off in a negative fashion (regarding track closures and the protest sale to name a few).
the fact that they treat the regular 4wder as an idiot
the perceived byas of the now removed comparisons
the diminishing editorial standard
the recycled stories
the money hungry market based mentality of the emg/4wda/tigerz/roo community
the list goes on. Its been brewing for a while and the latest "banned" stunt has just brought it all to a head.
Yeah I liked it when there was readers turning up to show them around the high country in a GQ on there DVD's... now its one of the same bozo's every time.
Soooooo...............
BUMP!
Whats the latest on this one? Has it all been swept under the carpet so quickly?
Probably Lucas it was a fly by night thing and now it's over

It was all probably to get people to buy their stuff away from the show and not spend money there. Publicity stunt and it may have worked for them. Ahh well chit happens

I would think most ppl in general would have a good idea if something was up to scratch quality wise.
So that would come under "buyer beware", I'm Like Robbo I'll repair if possible, or even re-make
something if it breaks. Wonder what Bens take on all this is, ,,,,,,,,?????
Makes you think if you can get a free awning for 12 Mags IMO.
