Batteries

Hi,

With all the mods on my truck I'm 80Kg's away from my max GVM (half a tank & no passenger) & want to tow a caravan so I'm looking to save some weight. I'm considering switching to Lithium batteries as one option for a few Kg's in savings. Are the cheap Kings one's reliable enough to choose? Also what brand would people recommend instead if they are not a good choice?

for aux/deepcycle have a look at the Itechworld batteries, they are designed for underbonnet use

for cranking, stick to lead acid

Changing battery type is just tinkering around the edges.

You say you're already nudging max GVM (looks over to me..).
If you want to tow, you'll need to upgrade the GVM.
Been there....

One of the first things i did to my Y62 was swap out the cranking battery for a DCS Lithium under the bonnet, there is a fair saving. The Y62 has a weight restriction on the front making every kg count.

I agree with Geoff, if you’re chasing that kind of weight difference then you are done. Batteries won’t change a thing.

GVM unfortunately if you are chasing such a low improvements in weight unfortunately.

didn't know lfp cranking batteries existed, reading up on them now :)
