Came off pretty easy from underneath? Mines a GU and I had it on a hoist but I wouldn't think it would be too different to the gq/laying on your back.
Had to take mine off to do the clutch and I don't remeber it being that difficult. Just degrease and wash it all first.
Thankfully have never needed to undo on any owned Patrols Rob mate. Might be time for an early oil filter change to have a better open crack at it until a GQ guru comes along here mate!
EDIT: @AB is your man here Rob mate. Completely forgot when we unfortunately popped his GQ donk, pretty sure the top team here doubled socket extensions, at least for topside bolt IIRC mate.

It is a pain in the ass to reach but shouldn't be too hard. Can't remember exactly how I did mine but think I just used spanners. There aren't any magic tricks though if that's what you are hoping for.

Yeah top bolt and wiring from top and other two bolts from underneath then jiggle out through the bottom. Bottom bolts bit of a pain cos you don't get much room to spin the spanner, ratchet ringgy might help.

I thought it would be a snap from underneath but I can't even get to one bolt on mine , so will remove the oil filters because it needs an oil change anyway and try from up top .
Thanks for your info guys will track down the spare extensions just in case .
Thanks again everyone I've managed to remove it after pissing the filters off , could not find my filter strap but lucky for me one was about three quarters of a turn from being tight and once removed the other one had better access and was also loose .
I've got no idea why the loose filter wasn't leaking everywhere but looks like it might have just started to weep a bit of oil .
After a few issues with stuck filters in my younger days I've only ever done mine up hand tight, just so they bind and don't spin loose or leak. No tighter. Never had a problem and I've never had to use a filter strap since.Quote:

They don't need to be tight. The rubber seals to their jobs. As long as you oil up those seals while spinning them on so as not to distort them, the seal will hold with minimal tightness.
