Hi all...so I had a bit of a misadventure...and as my wife won't let me forget is that none of it would have happened if I was not lazy...
ANYWAY...I ran out of fuel...which may or may not have been all my fault...
I called RACQ to get me off the highway and they put in 5L and tried to start it and then put in another 5L and couldn't get the car running.
All up had tried cranking the car for maybe a minute on and off.
After I wasn't starting they towed me to a servo and I put another 10L of diesel in and on and off cranked it for 5minutes.
Tried cracking the lines to get as much air out as possible to no avail.
I got my patrol towed to my work where I have a workshop and was told there was petrol in my car.
Turns out that the RACQ have put petrol in, and have admitted fault.
I have a 2005 GUIV Patrol with a 3.0L CRD engine.
25k on the engine, 275k on the body.
RACQ have basically given me a blank cheque to repair (as long as it's in line with a misfuel of course).
Now, I know quite likely the repair bill will include lines, filter/prefilter, fuel pump, injectors, etc.
My concern is that, if everything is repaired as needed, what are the chances that down the track, possibly off road and away from help, of issues resulting from this in the future.....?
Is there anything else I should be considering?
Thank you, Karl.
