Great weekend so far, turned into a fairly reasonable night last night, felt a little flat today but on the couch now off to work tommoz. Cheers everyone cook up was great & desserts were delish - yum!! Awsome place to have it markie was great just need to get the fire truck going next time. . .

Great meetup all, thanks to AB, MB and families for putting this one.

Cooking competition was brilliant, enjoyed eating the results and well done to all who entered and congratulations to Phil. If that's the first time you've eaten venison then you were certainly spoilt, it was a worthy winner.
We had a ball and enjoyed catching up with those I haven't seen for a while and also meeting new members. Certainly a varied cross section of members and just a great location, day and community.
So good to see all the kids playing and interacting in such a friendly manner, special thanks to Zac for his compound bow tuition to the other kids (and that includes Plassy with his seven cans down with one arrow shot).

Impressive fire, fire truck, and Nics powerpack starter - kicked that Russian engine into action no problems.

Missed saying goodbye to Mudnut and Mathfew, cheers guys (don't think I missed anyone else - hope not anyway).

I think I crashed around 4am that night ... Then woke up around 7... Got out of the swag, just absorbing that stunning view. Then out of bloody nowhere this shutter-clicking sound starts going off.... Yep there he was with a a DSLR !

Just a short note, I made it home OK, had a bit of a struggle getting through Melbourne ( traffic lights) then an easy run the rest of the way.
Thanks to everybody for a great weekend, great bunch of folks, kids and dogs were awesomely well behaved (well done to the owners of both groups).

Phils venison was next level . Seriously I've never had venison that bloody good before - & ive eaten a lot . I think it was Nathan that said that was his 1st try of venison - that bar has been set incredibly high so I think he'll be disappointed from here on in 😝 , Shame I missed his pizzas . over 15 yrs ago we stopped in the Furphy factory [Shep] for a look, very dense
cast iron and about 10mm walls I think, similar to my beast. But sadly all
are made overseas now from when I have no eye dear. A lot of ppl
collect camp ovens,,imagine having a full set of furphy camp ovens $$$$$$.

AB, MB thanks for the effort putting this weekend together. I had a great time, and the crowd was so friendly and interactive, very welcoming, and like the kids being there as well.

Appreciate the kind words regards the pizzas and venison, think I got lucky on that to some degree.

Really happy with the outcome for the ovens - 3 went to forum members, and much appreciate the support. When I work out how to get the images off my phone i will post the ones of the venison. If anyone wants that recipe just shout out.

Just got a chance to jump online quickly. Got home a few hours ago and set the camper up again in the carport to dry out.
It was a bloody top weekend, huge thank yous to MB and AB for another great weekend.

What an Epic weekend. Seriously! One to remember for sure. The turn out was awesome from Saturday all the way to today! There was more than 50 Adults around the fire Saturday night and more than 20 last night.

Phil, seriously mate! I'm not sure I saw you eat a single piece of pizza but you smashed out great pizzas for Lunch on Saturday, Sunday And Monday! Your oven is a Beast mate and truly is a awesome as it looks. The fact you sold 3 this weekend is testament to that. Guys if your even slightly interested in a Camp Oven System then Phils unit is exceptional! You are investing in something you will leave to your Grand Kids! It's that good! If I didn't own a fully sort COBB System already I would have taken one home for sure.

Guys, if you didn't make it to this event it's a shame, don't miss the next one! This group was awesome. Marks property is Gods Country.

Was an honour to stand in the rain at Dawn this morning with these men and remember those that served and sacrificed so we could enjoy our freedom and privelidge of enjoying our families in peace. Lest We Forget.

Home safe and finished unpacking, only made it to Ballarat last night because I was too tired from the previous 2 nights, you guys are a bad influence on me.
A big thanks to Mark & Andy for organizing the weekend, I had a great time and was really good to meet a few more members and catch up with those I had met before, what a great bunch of people.
I thought the big camp oven cook-up was a great success, Phil's venison was really good but my vote for best would go too Nicks.
The smoked venison sausages and rissoles were great thanks Mark and thanks Phil for all the pizza's.
I brought along plenty of food but I think all I used was a couple of eggs, and some bacon because every time I thought about getting something from my fridge I was being offered more food.
I can now say I have been to the church and it looks brilliant, what a great place to live.

BTW the port was mine, hope you enjoy finishing it.

While I didn't get to stay over night, I had a ball on Saturday night. Yet another massive stress relief which I badly needed... Even though I had spent a week in the top end. The real world is still presenting a few headaches.
I had the pleasure to chat with many members whom I hadn't spoken with for a long time, if at all. I was surprised, and pleasured to see Bob there. Great fella he is. Great to meet two new members, winnies bro inlaw and Phil. Phil, my kids did not stop talking about your pizza yesterday.
Also meeting the two youngest members, Felicity and Isla. Two beautiful girls....Plus seeing the other rug rats again of course.
@MB, thank you so much for hosting this event. And a big , big thank you for letting me bring two trailer loads of green waste to put on your fire. I owe you big time!

Thanks for a bloody good weekend. We were chucked in the deep end for the cook-up as we've never used a camp oven before. Thankfully no-one died from eating the resulting "meal". Vote 1 the Cobb cooked meat.

Thanks for another amazing (albeit to short) weekend. It's always good to see all the old faces and meet some friendly new faces. Thanks Mark for hosting and everyone for putting such a good cook up together, it's always nice to see the differences in ways to cook at camp, clearly there isn't a wrong way as all the food was amazing... Well with one exception, the venison was next level!!! See you all at the next one guys

I completely forgot about that so we'll have to get in early for a booking and nab that kitchen again!

I defer to MB on this one as he is the king of pork by a long way. The pork I have cooked didn't get the port crackling as rock hard, sort of the hot rubbery chewy horrible effect, but MB has shown how it can be achieved in his 'instructional videos'.

There was no great real trick to it mate, just used a 'Glad' foil tray on the pizza stone and kept top coal lid off to the side super heating up until ready and dropped it on top to crackle up. 15 or so mins later removed the top coal lid and then added the smoker tray to difuse the top heat and commence smoking/slower cooking there on in. All in the vids on Phil's website :-)
