I've seemed to have developed a audible and physical shudder that is verry noticeable that I've narrowed down to be in the transfer case, it happens while coasting but more so under power understandably. 2wd is fine though it only happens in 4hi and 4low. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what it cost to fix and depending on the $$ of repairs and what parts are farked I'll be considering some reduction gears

At first I thought it was the rear diff as it was making a grinding/ squealing sound like bearings on the way out, But turned out that was a spacer just after the drive shaft, so an unrelated issue. So I've locked the hubs in and gone for a drive to rule them out .. ..jacked it up and in 4hi just let it idol and it sounds and feels strongest at the transfer case.

If you go the reduction gear route , don't forget the 65% reduction gears a member had especially cut by Marks

I'd have to get an off the shelf set as I can have the car off the road long unfortunately. It will just come down to whats damaged and needing replacing.

What ball park would that be matt? Cost wise, it’ll be a good few hrs labour worth also wouldn’t it ? just wondering if reduction gears will be within reach.
And did you see me beep at you in Tewantin at the roundabout?

I'm not sure on cost mate. For parts prob 200-500 knowing what Nissan are like. They aren't really worth a lot for a good condition secondhand unit so it might be option for you to grab another case and either build it with gears or replace yours and rebuild the item that is currently installed.
As for labour maybe less than hour to remove it if everything goes well. Disassembly and reassembly maybe a few hours then install.
