Yeah Molly was a great rabbit, mouse and fox removalist when we lived on property. Even the odd snake too which was a bit scary.
Great with kids too and all she ever wants is a tickle behind the ear.

Any serious dog experts?? Thorin has been playing in muddy puddles the last few days with all this rain in SEQ and tonight when we came home his poor little face has gone all pimply/raw ......... Never seen this before but remember seeing somewhere that dogs that "drool" need to be kept dry or they get like the equivalent of teenage acne ???
I have messaged his breeder and just waiting for her response ... Just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with anything like this?

After 4 years we got another dog.
This is Tank. A 5 month old staffy x Kelpie, well that's we have been told. Got him from a friend of a friend. The owners are moving and can't take him.
Quiet dog understands the basic commands and you can tell that he loves being around people.

Wet dog in the car :-( Easter weekend a few years ago packing up camp on the Murray found old Blue smearing herself in the reminance of slackass campers !

At camp she would sleep just out of the fire light, and god help anyone who walked into camp.
Would never bite but just bale you up so you pi$$ed your pants.
Forever bring snakes back to camp half dead, blue tongues you name it.

Will have to measure him to make sure but easily mid to high 60's at the shoulder.
He's a mix of irish wolfhound with some staghound in there, so he wont get as huge as a pure wolfhound, but the mix should hopefully stave off some of those pure bred big dog medical conditions and give him a big more stamina to boot.
A lady who lives nearby has a wolfhound/bull arab and we cross paths on the morning walk sometimes, her boy is a beast, not as tall as our guy but broad and built like a brick shizenhousen.

Only 8 weeks olds has great markings, it will be Lily's dog.
Doesn't do much ATM except sleep and you know what,,,lol
EDIT:: they tell me its an AMSTAF, but looking at the Mum I'd say it may be a bit of a cross
The father is a Blue dog with a huge head, I told them to get a female as they are cleaner
around camp, not fissing on everything they find. now to get Billie to like her.
Lily says we will let her have 1 litter with a selected male then snip,,,,,still early days
as need a micro chip etc first. Her name is Tyler but will be called Ty

Update on the mighty Tyler ha ha ha weighing in @ a huge 5kg at 8 weeks old.
Just so happens my friend up the road has a Blue male staffy, not that blue
and blue make blue but will improve the chances I think.Would anyone have
any idea what age would be best for the first litter. I realise she may have to
be locked away when she come on heat.

My mate up the road has a blue English Staffy thats 4 months old and 8 kg.
And Billy what can I say my son left his 60kg punching bag outside and Billy took to it
and if anyone has seen Billy they would know how easy he could do this damage.
Looks pleased with himself hey, thats 58kg of happiness right there lol

Plenty of calcium powder in her meals to toughen up her bones,
great personality, good choice for Lily

Our wonderful friend, had to put him to sleep on Saturday, cancer, arthritis, kidney failure, dementia, incontinent, going blind, but a joy to the end. Here in his younger days after we brought him into our lives as a rescue dog. Shared 13 years with him, greatly missed.

I'm hoping Tyler will be my last dog ,so far she's a great dog.
Give yourself some time and go grab yourself a rescue dog when the time is right

Thanks John, absolutely rotten weekend and totally deflated. Everywhere he used to loiter you find yourself glancing at, expecting him to be there. We will need time, as with all grieving processes. Our local Vet sent a lovely card of condolence also, as he has helped us with 3 dogs over the last 35 yrs, really top guy. I don't think the next one will be a boxer though, maybe an Aussie bulldog, who knows.

PeeBee aussie bulldogs are a great looking dog.
probably the best dog Ive had with a good temperment was
Jack my 50kg Doberman, you could take her to a nursing
home and feel safe, loved a pat, scratch.
Any of the Bull Arabs also make great couch potatoes.
Not a fan of the small yappy units, but did have Porky a jack Russell for 18yrs

I guess the temperament of a dog is in a lot of ways reflected by the way they are brought up, and I always found the dobermans to be somewhat 'twitchy' and reactive. Ultra protective and loving to their owners but not so predictable with others. I guess this could be said with any breed. Saying that my daughter and son-in-law have a doberman/great dane cross and he is big, jet black and playful, totally approachable and gentle with everyone. Trouble with couch potatoes is that they end up becoming bed potatoes also and I will end up on the couch instead!

his hips were going, he was getting blind and couldnt find the hidden bickkies anymore

73615His eyes are ok,well cataracts are starting but he can see well enough and ears are still good. Liver, kidneys heart all good, from what the vets tell me, so no concerns there so far...... But there's always that risk due to age etc. Anyway, need to think about it some more.

you will know when it is time Clunk
my missus would tell me he was having problems walking and sitting, and when I got home at the end of a swing - he was always like a2 yr old puppy, jumping around etc
so
I kept putting it off
then one day when I came home early from a swing-
he didnt hear the taxi
he didnt hear the blinds being opened
and
he never saw or heard me watching him for nearly 2 hours, poor bugger could hardly walk, and was struggling to sit down
was so sad to watch
when it was time for me to have been coming home, all of a sudden he picked up and was acting like a pup again

Great to see & read the fondness.
Great to have them around and hard to say goodbye.

Bidja was my loyal mate (11 years with me, got cancer, recently had to decide and say goodbye).
Hard stuff. Vet came out home (40ks from town) and Bidja new what it was about. Hard putting this together. We would free walk around the paddock at night and he would not even take off after a kanga or wallaby.
We have the three other Kelpies, his mother (Red)F/L, brother (Al)F/R & sister (ckockie). They now the deal, we are all a fond pack.

Sometimes when ‘younger dogs’ they can amaze us all with battling survival strength :-)! Old ‘Del’ (now) our Blue some years ago tried to stop a 3.0+T Nissan Patrol as a wheel chock from reversing out of the house paddock. Pressure on the abdomen, stop, then forward, caused her eyes to pop almost out. All hope was near lost and cruel to be kind on the cards was felt inevitable but thankfully paused. Local ‘Fair Dinkum’ Vet upon arrival agreed near hopeless yet together gave our best efforts possible on the days thereafter.

We use to use, or at least the Kelpies did, these Kong things (hollow round rubber cone like vessels) that we put tucker in and they would spend time liking/cleaning and throwing them about, These things are tough, maybe a bowl made of similar material would be a good one to check out. Thought - Screw down a a small tire 150-200mm dia tyre side down and screwed to a flat piece of ply or log billet. Have to get the snout in there may slow the process. Rubber might be suss.
Maybe a marketing opportunity here.

A somewhat sad post for our beautiful Blue Dog Del!
Tough old faithful silly girl has foolishly survived over the years the likes of severe horse double barrel kicks, heavy vehicle trailer wheel pancakes & twisted/blocked gut veterinary operations twice from sneaky snacking on hunters bunny fur balls.
Dogmentia with longevity is sadly true and only just now kindly educated by our neighbouring vet nurse for next caring steps needed.
Signs to look out for earlier and possibly medicate/diet/occupy accordingly have now been educated:
*Wandering/pacing (especially after dark, lost bearings )
* Anxiety/Excessive licking (paws, faces etc..)
* Unknown displays of dominance (tucker bowl wars and frustrated anger)
List does apparently go on but we should not forget that in age we are allowed to get a little bit cranky I guess?

Is it something that diet can help with? Probably not but changing my dog over to "science diet" dog food gave him better quality of life for his last year and half.

Thanks Tony, yes I believe so too mate, we’re off to the vet booking this morning for blood testing and future care plans for her.
As Plassy kindly mentioned she’s always patrolled the property but never left the boundaries. Scarily was found 3kms away the other night walking down the middle of the highway completely lost.

Blood test results back Monday and unfortunately nothing can be done for all senses disappearing causing most anxiousness.
Ordered in some super special tucker that scientifically is plausible but no known studies to prove yet.

Maybe secure bed in side over night and companion walks.

Sorry to hear that Bob and Mark. We have one old dog displaying some of those symptoms. She is also going blind but has pretty well sussed out all of the paddocks and still comes back to the house in her own time. Sometimes she will forget that she is being fed and will leave her bowl, then come back and look at us as if we haven't given her anything, because the other three have wolfed hers down.

Unfortunately Mrs MB and our Littlens ‘pet cats’ are environmentally locked inside 24/7 and crikey does Del hate cats, I just dislike them :-)

MB Recon Del been around the longest, deserves the right to camp inside or at least somewhere warm/secure over night. Maybe the felines could hang out in the laundry for night stalking.
Had a Blue Heeler / Border Collie cross (dog)"cobber" in my early 20s so faithful, would just hang out up on the beach, off lead until I came out of the water and hardly move. Fond times.

Please don’t stress mate, daytime kennels available for their rainy guard viewing down the block and Del’s warm house covered wind proof deck is always complete with beds and couches she prefers that just need some tweaking cubby house feelings.

Well this was the last ever trip to the dog park for my 2 pooches. Dodge had his a last paddle in the river, while Libby watched enthusiastically. It's time to do the right thing and let them go over the rainbow bridge......
Dodge (light colour) is 14.5 years old now and Libby has just turned 13. Dodge had a tumour and is losing weight quickly now and Libby is now struggling to walk without her rear legs giving way.......
They'll both be euthanized on Tuesday and cremated together.
Bloody heartbreaking.

79485My dog is very loyal - he never wonders, never leaves home - always there to great me at the back door.
He is obedient - when I say sit, he does just that. He does have a limited vocabulary because he does not yet understand 'come' or 'fetch'.
He is very well behaved - never barks, bites, digs up the garden, leaves bones around, messes in the open, chases cars, looses hair, damages the furniture, etc.
He doesn't fret when I am away, even for extended periods.
He is very cheap to feed.
He never requires the services of the vet.
Ideal dog really.

Our dog Red, was a massive part of our lives for the past 16yrs (been with us since she was 5wks old) and recently been coping with declining health. Unfortunately had to help her to find peace last Friday to prevent further suffering. She is now at rest next to Jimmy Bidja at home.

Thank you All, we do more than appreciate your kind words and support as always!
New Dodgey unfortunately didn’t get enough time with our best Matriach, especially learning the ropes on “how to” snooze on an outdoor couch after a good healthy paddock run :-)

We went to a couple of dogs refuges yesterday..... the wife and I found a couple of beauties we were interested in.... one was a fantastic brindle Staffy X Bull Mastiff 3.5 yr old bitch, sweet natured, soft as shit. The other was a fun coloured Bull Mastiff X with something again great natured but found out not too good with cats, so we ruled her out as we have 2.
Went back To the refuge today for a meet and greet with the Staffy, kids and cat. All was going well between pooch and cat until the pooch came up behind the cat for a sniff, cat turned round and took a swipe a pooch, pooch became far too interested in the cat for the trainers liking, so unfortunately we weren't able to rescue the Staffy.
Trainer asked us on our thoughts about adopting a pup instead....... so yeah this happened today, 8 week old unknown mixed breed boy, now named Cooper.... We think there's possibly Staffy, Kelpie amongst other breeds but will probably be able to tell a bit more as he grows. Looks like he'll be a medium sized boy
looking forward to the long nights of attention seeking [emoji6][emoji848]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200202/c1492d00e353707a7b93174f4bef04c0.jpg

Approx 12 weeks old now, Cooper has been with us 4 weeks and gone from 3.5Kg to 9Kg. Will be interesting to see how big he'll grow.
