We will go through Healesville, Yarra Junction, Powelltown along Noojee Road to Neerim South, pop out at Warragul and meet up with the rest.

Yeah the Freeway is quicker but going through Powelltown is an awesome drive. Not 4wding but just a nice romantic drive in the country side...lol

2 to 2.5 hour trip

Hey guys I know of at least 2 other swag trips happening this weekend up in this area. If we get a hut grab it and stake a claim. Regardless off living the dream of swagging it in the snow if we can get a hit to stand around in and drink and eat and keep warm while socializing we will all be very happy.

Grab what you can.

Chronic bowel functions?

It's a nightmare. Anyway can I sleep in bluey with you?

You guys are gonna hate me and I only just thought of this... McFarlanes saddle might be too small for the amount of people coming? There are other bigger campsite on the same road so it's no drama but that's where everybody will be headed. It might be alright but I honestly don't know..... Let's wait and see!

I got 2 spares on board. Both 33's. Fridge, food, sleeping stuff.

I packed a heap of those click together foam mats. Thinking that will be some good insulation under the swag.

Any other good ideas before its to late.

I will be at Bloodaussies house to leave with them.

If anyone with a roof rack has a piece of Tin lying around they can put on teh roof to light the fire on it will make a massive difference tot he quality of hte fire. the wood will burn all night if we light the fire on Tin.

Lat time we happen to find half a bonnet at the camp site and worked a treat!

Doesn't need to be thick side off an oven works well and stops the fire going out.

Ok,
Only just got in the door as I've bailed early for a family commitment.
What a top couple of days. Good drives, a couple of recoveries, snow, some rain, wind, broken bits on cars, bush mechanics, campfire, lots of chainsawing to clear tracks, beer and great company.
Thanks to all involved for coordinating a great meet-up. Looking forward to October already.
Oh and by the way, GQ's ruled!

Got home all ok Drew. Thanks again for the help on way home.

Gotta say a HUGE thanks to all the blokes this weekend. Everyone made me feel welcomed and part of the group from the start. Can't ask for much more than that.

Gotta love how everyone cracks in when there are problems. I will let those fill in others on fll details.

Yep. Was a bloody awesome trip. Unfortunately for me I had to cut the trip a night short. Yesty arvo I lost all clutch pressure, and also have this horrible grinding noise coming from somewhere under the bonnet on the turbo side. Not loosing boost, car still goes like it always had so I'm assuming its not the turbo. I'll have to clean the car today and hopefully find and fix the issue before work on Tuesday. I could have stayed last night, Roofy nearly convinced me to stay but at least I have sort of a head start in cleaning so I can get under the Troll and find this issue. One major draw back of having a Patrol that is also your work car...

Nah def not anything to do with the gearbox. It kinda feels like its loosing vacuum and at low revs its almost a two foot job to depress the clutch. I'm going to try to bleed it. Try. Last time it wouldn't bleed at all. Checked all vac lines and they are all spot on. I might just order a new slave cylinder and change it over while I'm at it.
Found the horrible noise under the bonnet. The idler bearing was as dry as a witches tit. removed all and I'll lube it up tonight.

Anyone got pics of andy taking the deep option on the river crossing of Friday?

Roofy, Your a tease mate. Stopped in Licola for a dump and air up the tyres and I was soooo tempted to turn around. But I'm sorta glad I came home as I washed my car, (used 600litres to wash the car and 100'ish to clean the gutters in my street. All tank water I used so I went troppo with the hose.) and found and half fixed one of two issues.

Sir Roofy

nah def not anything to do with the gearbox.

All tank water i used so i went troppo with the hose.) and found and half fixed one of two issues.

sorry mate but you missed a good night

Finally back home and inside, stuffed around trying to unpack!!!

What a ripper trip everyone, new faces and top blokes too, loved it!

I can't believe I bent my tie rod up to and around the diff, that was insane!!!

Huge thanks to everyone in helping me straighten it. It took a while and the bottle jack under a tree to bend it back to shape was the winner!!!

There are loads of photos and vids coming soon I'm sure. Someone's got a pic of the tie rod so I look forward to seeing that too!!!

Time for a hot shower!!!!!

yup what a few days. ABSOLUTELY loved very moment even having to setup camp in the blowing rain lol.

Got home all ok Drew. Thanks again for the help on way home.

I broke a alternator belt just out of traralgon. Thankfully Drew had a belt that was perfect for a quick fix.

Gotta say a HUGE thanks to all the blokes this weekend. Everyone made me feel welcomed and part of the group from the start. Can't ask for much more than that.

Gotta love how everyone cracks in when there are problems. I will let those fill in others on fll details.

I got some great footage on the go-pro which I will try get up tomorrow. Few pics on the phone too which will be up in the morning.

Got home all good last night, jumped in the shower (awesome) then had some dinner. Big thanks to all that came I had an absolute ball. Thanks to all those that helped out with the winching of my car, after this weekend I have had to re-assess my mods list and a decent tune up and tyres have now moved right to the top. It's amazing how you can spend a whole weekend out in the bush with a bunch of ppl you have only just met but still feel as though you have known each other for ages. Well done to Winnie for organising the trip and especially the trip in. It was unreal to start the weekend in such a way. Have to go drop the kids off school and unpack then drop off the chains in Croydon so once I have done that I will upload the couple hundred photos I have.

I would encourage all members to not be afraid to go on a members meet up. The way you backup and look after each other puts many 4x4 clubs to shame. They could learn a lot from you. thanks Gary.

P.S. How do I load video of the river crossing?

It was a short time meeting you Gary, thank you for offering the slave cylinder for my clutch too. Yes they're all great people, fun time we had. Just spewing about leaving early. My clutch pedal went foobar, had this terrible grinding, rotational noise coming from under the hood aswell. Thought it was the idler bearing as it was dry as when I removed it. Fixed that, still have the noise. Sounds like the bearings in the a/c pump as I spun that as it felt like that might be where its coming from, plus the pulley feels a little loose, spray some crc in it and now the sound is gone. Hopefully it will hold up until I get a new pump, or if I can fix this pump???
Now back to work. Ugh!

You can replace the bearing behind the clutch on the a/c pump, you will need a puller to remove the clutch plate though

I am still so tired and need another 18 hours sleep!!!!

Friday and Sunday were the pick of days for the most epic tracks and Saturday was more about snow and rescuing Kev..... I got bombarded by snow balls helping Zack get his snow board back only to have the little bugger throw one at me as I got near the top so I threw his board back over the edge and made him go and get it himself..

Kris managed to get suckers to try his chili and everyone that tried did there best impression of someone that was not bothered at all.... yeah bull shit!!!

Sunday was EPIC with some brilliant tracks and gob smacking scenery........

I love the company and friendship on these trips and truly enjoy every minute even when its day 3 and I am getting tired and grumpy!!!

There is so much to tell but I cant think right now...

Have to thank Winnie for the trip and Rossco for hooking in with his saw to get us through.... also Roofy for cleaning up after us!!!!

Here's a pretty crappy little vid but this hill was extremely slippery and with no momentum you got messed up and couldn't reverse back over the washout to start again and slipped back into the sloppy concrete washout drain and had no hope of getting back on the high side to get back up.

Credit to Kris, he did get back up on top after this vid and made it out himself.

After this hill it just kept on going up with 2 or 3 more washouts and slippery climbing.....Great fun!

Unless you're me and you just crawl up it. I jumped in with BA to go back up after I walked down it and was there to experience his first time in using the locker in anger. Not bad for a petrol!
