Where can a get a 2nd gear box?

Hey guys,

As I have posted in a previous post, I'm buying a GU Patrol from a mate. I am picking it up this weekend (hopefully) and I have an issue with 4th gear crunching. We have dropped the oil and changed it to Castrol VMX 75w-85. It's still crunching, so I wanted to an idea of a price on a 2nd hand gear box.....

Any ideas whebin Melbourne would be a good place to go to get one, if I need one??

Why get a 2nd hand gearbox? Probable better to get your one rebuilt. I assume this is a manual gearbox?

To be honest mate, I'm have no idea, it costs me around $2500 to rebuild my auto box myself so there is no labour cost in that figure, I'm sure manual would be cheaper ro rebuild than an auto box.

If you do go s/hand box, I would go a rebuilt s/hand one over just a s/hand one, as you don't really know what the condition of it is anyway, could get one and then it fails 500k's down the road

Price is dependent on what you need 2 get done.

The place I got my auto stuff from is in VIC, shame it wasn't an auto.

I'm sure others will be on soon enough giving you better ideas on a manual box

You can get 2nd hand boxes with transfers for normally $500 or so depending on much they want to get rid of it.

Thanks for the advice guys! Fingers crossed its not a massive problem but we will see how we go! I'm getting it cheap enough from my mate so a rebuild isnt out of the question.
