Ok, I went out to Toolangi this afternoon to check out the best camping spots at the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve.
The best camp spot I found for us is called the Water Guage Camping Ground. This is located 3km down from the Suspension Bridge Camping Ground.
The Suspension Bridge camping ground is the first camping ground on the road. You cannot miss it. The photos below are the Suspension bridge. Don't forget to pay your camping fee. I think It's $5 per car.
This is very easy to find. Simply take the Murrindindi Road turn off from the main Melba Hwy.
Theres a huge green Vicroads sign saying "Murrindindi -->"....Can't miss it!
Then It's just straight the whole way for about 15km....Ends up being dirt road and shiploads of pot holes but It's an easy drive.....The road follows the powerlines....There may be a couple of small "t" intersections but just keep going straight and keep the following the "main" road.
There's orange signs directing you the whole way with each camping ground signed so It's very easy to find the camp spot...
Anyways, I had the road tyres on today and it was very slippery on some of the 4x4 tracks. The facilities here are pretty fancy for camping. After Black Saturday they rebuilt everything so even if there is rain we would be able to use a medium sized pergola with picnic tables, etc. Even the fire pits have rotating grills...lol
