Tailgate catch strap
Hi,
I've a problem with my "new" '99 Patrol Y61.
The catch strap (hope it's the name) of the right tailgate teared of from the car body.
In difference to the left side (screwed to the body) is the right side welded (visible when rear light removed) ... Is there a particular reason to be welded?
I think the easiest way to attach it again is to drill holes and screw it?
Thank you,
Thomas

I've had the same on my new 99 Patrol.
I drilled and tapped the bracket and drilled and countersunk the holes in the body.
Bit of paint to stop any rust.
Some nice stainless countersunk screws finished it off.
I also added a nut on the back of each to lock them.
Cheers Shane
