    What to look for?

Hey everyone, I'll be looking for a new patrol in the next couple of weeks. 2008-10 models.
Is there snything in particular I need to look out for/avoid in these models?
Having had the same GQ for the last 16 years I'm not sure of the good n bad points on newer trucks,
    Cheers, Pete

what you want is good service history, can't stress that enough.
even ring the previous owner if you have that info.
A quick look underneath will tell you if its been use off road, check
rear spring towers for cracks. Once you have one in your sites post it here

work on about 20k for every year of rego so you're looking at between 120-150k
    travelled

    G'day Pete,
    3D is on the money.
I prefer to buy privately but it leaves you dependent on your own eyes and nose, apart from that service record. That's gold. I've always done my own servicing and kept a record of EVERYTHING done to the old GQ (15 or so years & 400K) and the new 3.0CRD. If someone tells you the good story but can't back it up with those sort of records, (their own or the mechanics), I'd stay away. I'm also wary of cars that have had a total detail with every thing waxed, glossed, polished, air freshened etc. etc. and no trace of it's previous use left to look at. Must have been pretty ugly wouldn't you think?
With your experience you should be one savvy buyer. Just go over the prospect thoroughly comparing the condition you see with your old wagon. Take your time. The new ones have their differences but they're still 4X4 Patrols.
    Luck,
    Col

    Hi Pete
Not model specific, but something I missed with mine...
Look for concentric circle "scratch patterns" OD about 3" on inside of chassis rails. Presuming these are from grips used when straightening chassis...
    Good luck

Check how worn pedal rubbers are and condition of the steering wheel,
seat belts are another grey area as they don't retract after a while,
factor in $360 for after market market ones , check intercooler for oil stains
another $450 fix for a tigged one. See if the doors close with that new car sound
and dont need to be slammed to close. Little things but they all add up.lol
