    I had the luck of the brushes going and the solenoid going at the same time. Had to buy a new one. Had the option of going for a brand spanking new one for $1500 large ones or $800 for a rebuilt one. I choose the rebuild option as for me it wasn't justified getting a new one as my point was proven when I got stuck in a deep river and have half shagged the new starter already only a month down the track lol

    Yeah, bought some other junk at the same time. Wasn't going to leave the starter there. So really, other junk + starter was $5.

    Love the recycle centre!

    P.s I am referring to TD42, mis-read your post being petrol 4.2.

    I want share the advice given to me;
    The auto leccy I spoke with drives TD42 GQ.
    He had starter motor issues and said he purchased a brand new cheapy $550.
    His old one beyond worthyness as far as rebuild.
    But he regrets purchasing a cheap new one as only six months later was showing signs of poor performance.
    He said knowing what is now, he would have shelled out for the 'better quality' ($1000++) as he intends to keep his GQ.

    He managed to get the reputable quality for me at $750 + GST; this is the quality brand item he would purchase now that he knows better. Same design/die cut as Nissan. But no longer manufactured by Nissan.

    Wanted ***NEW PARTS FOUND***-GU3 standard rear bar and side steps

    Due to an unfortunate incident with a certain red MK Patrol i am now looking for a replacement standard rear bar (as per first photo) for my GU3 Patrol. I need both sides (in good condition) as they have both seen better days.
    A standard one piece rear bar (second photo) from a GU4 onwards would also be OK.

    My side steps have also seen better days so let me know if you have a set in good condition.

    Tony
