Pumpkin stereos
Has anyone got or heard anything (positive or negative) about Pumpkin stereos? It looks like a cheap way to get a shiny new unit in my car for a low price. I don't need anything outrageous (there will be nothing more than the standard speaker arrangement) but am after something reliable.
Cheers
Luke

I bought a head unit that looked identical but not Pumpkin, it went back under warranty then the new one played up after a couple of months. Even when it worked it had a crap screen, would change channels by itself and I'm old and half deaf but even i could tell the audio quality was shocking.
I bought one of these:http://ca-fi.com/store/index.php?rou...product_id=409
I had it about 12 months and was so happy with it that I bought one for the misses and installed DashCommand, see pics here: https://www.google.com.tr/search?q=d...IVBhByCh1tOwY-
It also supports integrated dash cam and tyre pressure monitors if that's your thing.
I only had one problem which was getting the WiFi working to automatically sync music, I was an idiot and didn't turn the WiFi on in the settings menu

Thanks JME. The plan for this head deck is so I can pipe a video feed in from a reversing camera.
Glad to hear you've got some good stuff there. And DashCommand looks great!

I've got one of these http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Andro...rchweb201560_9 and have not had any issues with it.
I've hooked up my USB dashcam, reversing camera, 2.5" Harddrive for playing video's/music/etc.. also comes with Nissan wiring harness, so no cutting wires.
My only quibble with it is that it did not have a builtin equalizer, you have to download Viper4Android or Poweramp to get equaliser control.
Has 18seconds startup time, but you can set a standby time of up to 2 hours, so you don't have to wait to boot up every time you turn your car on.
Has other custom ROMS you can load which give you a few more options, but that's for people that prefer to fiddle a bit more.. I'm one of them Support forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...arpad-t2865525

That looks pretty sexy. Not sure I'm a big fan of the Android startup time, but I suppose with a diesel it would be online by the time you've let your engine warm up a little.
Thanks foggs.

True it can be annoying even a 5 second wait. I also was hesitant before buying one because of the same reason, but as you say by the time you're ready to go, it's also ready.
I've also installed/flashed a custom ROM on mine that allows me to set the standby time up to 2 days... I've set mine to 1 day at the moment and have no issues, always available no waiting for bootup. The screen turns off when you take the key out and standby usage is negligible.... mind you I've now also hooked it up to my AUX battery.
