This is good information, and thanks for sharing all this. I have a Safari 2005 Auto ZD30 and I noticed when I go an visited my sister in law fully loaded all seats occupied, and some extra load on the top, that is has a funny smell that comes not from the engine but like from the gearbox, now I know what is generating the smell, I bought it years ago, and do not know if previous owner did change the Transmission oil, trans or differentials. This will be my next maintenance to do.

it is a good idea to flush the trans, transfer case every 40,000kms and depending on what you drive like the diffs oil anywhere between 50,000 - 100,000 kms. A city driver with a nanas foot wouldn't really need to flush the diffs all that often but if you've got a heavy foot and do a lot of country roads, or off road then the diffs become as important as everything else.
