One thing you can check for is the rear coil towers, both mine and my fathers had cracked towers for god knows how long, I found mine had cracked then we thought we'd check his and it did too, both on the drivers side rear, seems to be a common problem.
I did post a thread on here about the repair, it has a picture of the damaged tower if you look it up.
Thanks alot for your insight Gertie, appreciate it. Keeping my eyes pealed and my mind opened. Got my eye on a couple of GU IV's with low kms that i'll be inspecting this weekend, we'll see how that goes.

Hopefully picking up my '06 GU IV tomorrow. Country car, clean inside and out, best example mechanically I came across anyway. I know Nissan 'corrected' the grenading issues by the GU IV but should I fit the N.A.D.S mods anyway just to prevent those pistons melting, keep EGT's low, etc? Will definitely fit the pillar gauges to keep an eye on temps before anything else. Thanks.

Picked the patrol up today and am really enjoying it! 2006 GU IV but drives feels and looks like a 2014 Y61. Like new inside and out. Very happy patrol owner.
