    front shock tower rust

Hi ive noticed that the drivers front coil tower is all rusty ive taken a pic its quite rusty but to me still looks reasonably intacted I was thinking of treating it with rust converter. On a good note the passanger side is pearfect. Thoughts on how I should repair it would be great thanks.

Have you got some pics you can post please. Is it surface rust or structural rust? The spring tower is fairly important.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Look at the product range from POR15. They have amazing rust preventative and conversion products. Plus their black paint is tough as nails too and if done right will never flake or chip and let the cancer come back.

maybe a leaking battery over a long time dripping battery acid onto there. or dripping then catching and holding the battery acid in the bowl of the top of the tower.

I'd be removing that rust mechanically then use the converter. I think there is an art to proper rust treatment and removing it mechanically with something abrasive is the safer option. If the rust is thick enough, it can stop the converter from fully penetrating, creating issues years down the track.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.
