    Removing Roof Lining to fix rust?

    Hi,
    Need to get the rust fixed on the GQ's roof and gutters and was wondering if its worth removing the roof lining to get better access and be able to rust prevent the rest of roof. Does anyone have any pics of the roof without lining so I can see what sort of access there is from the inner skin to outer skin (if at all). The rust is not massive (just a few holes and a bit of the gutter) but would like to stop it getting worse....

    Also, any hints,tips,pics on removing the headlining? Doesn't seem to be much info around about this?

    Thanks

    Roof lining is fairly easy to remove. take the door trims off and then the lining rods clip out and you can remove or drop the sections down.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

    The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    So I take it that it can be dropped then put back in without damaging anything? I too am curious as I'd like to pull out the liner and put more sound proofing in.

    Don't you have to take the rear windows out though. Thought I read that somewhere.... The lining appears to be glued somehow to the edge under the rubbers. That might be a pain. Hardest thing is gonna be putting it back in I reckon..

    But, is it work it? Am I gonna get access to the inner skin on the curve of the roof near the gutters. If I can't then no point in pulling roof liner out.... hope someones got a photo of what the roof looks like without the liner in....

    This is a big job and your rear windows have to be popped out including the front to do it properly, it is a tricky job since its glued in around the edges.

    I gave up on the roof lining idea and have fixed from outside. It wasn't too bad is going to look pretty good I think....
