    Question sd33 fuel adjustment

    Hi Folks,
posted this in the MQ subforum but no response, so trying again in a hopefully more appropriate subforum

I have an 1980 MQ SD33 with an after market turbo. I've been considering increasing the fueling by a conservative amount but am at a loss regarding which screw/bolt (if any) on the pump (diesel kiki) sets the fuel quantity and which direction would it need to be turned.

    tia,
    george.

Firstly why would you increase the fuelling? Secondly becareful as the SD33 can be given a shorter life by installing a turbo. As the SD33 has no oilers and less rings than the specificcally designed SD33T.

The turbo has been on the sd33 for at least 20 years now, so it appears to not be too much of a long term reliability issue

The reason for increasing the fuel is that I changed my mq from 24V to 12V several years ago. The 12v edic is a tiny bit different than the 24v version, the motor/lever/stroke biases the fuel to the cutoff direction so starves the engine of fuel. I've adjusted it as far as I can to be in the 'run' location, but it's marginal (or seems to be). If I bias it too much then the engine won't cut off, since the stroke isn't enough to move it fully into the stop.

So, I was hoping if I can just increase the fuel in the run position I'm at that I can get back to what I had with the 24V setup. That seemed an easier approach than trying to bend (trial and error) the edic control 'rod'.

I live/work in the US, so get back to oz once a year and then use the mq for camping trips for the month or so I'm over there. So, I don't have a lot of time to twiddle with things and was hoping there would be an easy tweak I can do.

    cheers,
    george.
