Been looking, no luck! Going to be pretty impossible unfortunately. As I said, everyone would need to have the same game on their computer and then connect to a server etc.

There's a game called Rigs of Rods. I've been playing it lately on my computer. It's an open source game which means that it's free, and it's content is community based. In other words, the community make all the cars and landscapes for the game.
If you aren't too computer savvy, it would be a bit daunting to try this out, but definitely doable. Again, if you aren't computer GAME savvy, it would be frustrating as all hell. Being open source, there's a lot of bugs and glitches. However, it runs good enough to get some pleasure out of if you don't mind some textures disappearing or your car dropping through the ground.

Anyway, the BIG BIG BIG drawcard to this game is the rock crawling and trail driving! Ever wanted a game where you could drive an old school landcruiser up a rocky pathy with lockers and reduction gears? Want to jump in a Hilux and cruise around some trails? This has it. On the flip side, you can also drive massive semi's, recovery trucks with working cranes, winches, booms and also fly planes and helicopters. There's even dodge vipers and camaro drag cars. It pretty much has a car for everyone i think. The best thing is the physics are pretty good too! Some of the community have even put FLEX into the tyres!

It also has multiplayer. So anyone wanting to play this on multiplayer would have to download the game, which isn't big. From what I've read, the multiplayer is a bit buggy though because it is new. Hopefully they sort out the glitches pretty soon and make the muliplayer more stable.
Only down side is that there are no PATROLS!

Here's some You Tube clips to get you going.

Just type Rigs of Rods into You Tube for more clips.
