Sorry to read about your mate, MB.
Angry at myself, and exhausted, and lucky to be alive. 4th time out in my tinny, and it capsized. Phone, keys, tools and a car battery with a brand new electric trawling motor that was laying on the seat, all at the bottom of the river. Had to cancel cards etc. My hands are cut to pieces from forcing my way through the reeds to get to dry land. Lucky an old lady was home not too far of a walk from the river. I called for help, mudnutette got me home. Selling the prick of a tinny after it is retrieved.

Thanks, blokes. had to give up trying to refloat the tinny. Bloody glad I always wear my life vest, because having a bad back was nearly the end of me. I couldn't hoist myself up into the reeds so had to swim to the other side into some shallow water. Bugger me though, it was a reed covered island, so had to drag myself through another muddy channel to the real bank. Had to ring the police too, so they wouldn't have to respond to any other calls about the upturned boat on the river. I've snagged a neighbour to help me recover what I can tomorrow. It happened so quick. I leaned and reached forward, the throttle slipped out of hand, the motor kicked sideways and 1,2, 3 I was underwater!!

Got the tinny, my drowned phone, but with the cash and licences still in it, the fuel tank, paddles a few buckets, the car battery was still attached to the boat. Also got my ammo can full of tools back. The car wasn't vandalised either.
MIA: the car keys, rods, tackle box and electric motor. My foot has blown up all bruised from a fall in the reeds but I got the engine drained of water and it fires but will not run. All in all I'm lucky to be alive so bring on the next adventure!

I was very fortunate to have gone to the Surrey River, instead of the Glenelg River. I am certain I wouldn't be here now, as that place is way more is wild and remote. Where I would have gone there are of stretches with cliffs on both banks and no chance I'ld make it to a safe exit. An EPIRB is going to be with me if I go off the beaten track, from now on.

The saga continues: Got the motor running, but exhaust gas was blowing the cooling water out of the inlets. I've stripped the head and side plate off. Have found some parts at Narracourt, just need to get some dough to pay for them. And by the way, thank the universe, we still have cash, because my new card hasn't turned up yet. Without cash I wouldn't have been able to give my neighbour and his mate some to cover expenses. Also i had to get fuel and pay for new car keys and new phone! Makes me wonder how we'll cope if there's no internet, phone signal, no power of if the phone system gets hacked!!
