Anzac day.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Excellent turnout at Mount Evelyn. They focussed on Vietnam vets this year which was a nice change of pace, heard several stories from old vets etc, all amazing and chilling.

No mate, I go to the old mans resting place, and now my stepfather has a plaque in the wall at Centennial Pk, a short walk to remember both and their many lost friends. R I P .

@pearcey that Samurai sword is worth Millions$$$$$, but they cant find it.
Last report was some GI left it at a PO in the States some where.
The sword is belived to be very old and considered as art by the family that owned them.
Dad served in the airforce up Darwin as a radio op, survived the bombing, quiet, peaceful man.

Had a great Anzac Day today. Went down to the local suburban march which consisted of maybe a dozen returned service men and women, service personnel proxies/family, the Geelong memorial brass band, a fire truck, a small group of SES and the local cubs and scouts. Such a small neighbourhood march (in an overall larger city) which is really nice in its own community way, and topped off with a brilliant commemorative service at the small local RSL. A sausage sizzle afterwards, back home got the flag up in the front yard, did a bit more reno work in the house then cracked a tinny and watched the last quarter of the footy. Bloody love this country.
Thanks to all who served and are serving now so I can have such a great quality of life.
Lest we forget.
