Nice one gents. They are both the same sets yeah? Was there a set with a higher stress rating PeeBee?

Check out my Toy --> MudRunnerTD's GQ From the Ground Up
The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
Better put chromo hubs on the list as well....
It will either be the hub or the diff centre. Easy to kill hubs with lockers and chromo axles/cvs. Genuine manual hubs aren't cheap. CVs are like anything they do wear out and don't last forever. They will fatigue as they get older and become weaker. Chromoly a lot less so and I would expect to last the life of most GQ patrols.
You could try some of those steel strengthening rings on the hubs which would help and are quite cheap.

I run the steel rings, but curious about what constitutes a genuine hub? I bought mine new in 1997, already running free wheeling hubs - are these genuine as you call it or fitted in Australia like the aircon units? I have a spare set of hunts and also the fixed hubs supposedly ex Nissan as well. I take the point that a weak link would be nice in the drive train where it is easily replaced, but not looking to find it!
