Quick update.
After starting & running fine for 3 weeks after the initial fail to start, the patrol refused to fire the first time I turned it off somewhere remote. This happened 2 days before Xmas.
Had to walk about 3 km`s to get phone reception to organize a Tilt Tray. Mechanic tried for about an hour to get it to fire up with no luck, so on the truck. Got it home & as the towie was leaving I walked over & turned the key & the bloody thing fire up & idled like nothing was wrong. Turned it off but it would not start again.
Checked the codes & got 0701 again. Nothing I could do over Xmas & New Year so it sat for 3 weeks.
Rang a diesel specialist about the problem. The sensor & electronics can be replaced but the pump has to come off for this to be done & would be nearly as expensive as fitting a whole reconditioned pump.
So new IP it is.
They quoted $3000 for a reco pump & $1500 - $2000 in labour to do the job. Back on the tilt tray last Tuesday & down to have the job done. Spent $600 on towing, $200 for the initial recovery & the rest for the trip to the repair shop.
Should hear back tomorrow.
