Crawler Gears for 1985 Mk160 (MQ) Station wagon
Hi Everyone
I have an ancient one that is still going strong.
It is a 1985 model with the SD33 turbo diesel. It is purely mechanical, even the fuel pump is mechanical.
Does anyone know if it is possible to source low range (crawler) gears for it?

Thanks, but I guess portal axles would not be super cheap. I think I may be slow on the sarcasm there.
I suspect in terms of turning speed, portal axles would achieve the same as slower diff ratios. I.e. everything is slower, including highway speed, needing higher revs.

Correct you are, whatever ratio is chosen that’s it, highway and out bush 24/7.
Keen to see how you go with contacting ‘Marks’ for older model transfer gear sets, please do keep us posted mate
